Transferring..(NPHC)

If one transfers from a school with a NPHC chapter to a school without a NPHC chapter is he or she still a member? would he still be a member at that the school they transferred from or could he or she just start their own chapter at that school?

I'm pretty sure that if you were already in an NPHC, you would already know the answer to that question (or at least have someone in your chapter to ask, instead of on a random message board). So...how about you take things one step at a time and worry about getting IN to an NPHC first...

there is no need for this question and the answer is correct.. if you are in an NPHC org then you would know...so please close this thread ---who is ever the moderator is.

The person asking the question never claimed he/she was an NPHC group, is it a problem if he/she is asking out of curiosity?

From reading posts in the different NPHC forums, I get the impression that it is unacceptable to ask membership-related questions online from both members and non-members alike.

I also get the feeling that curiosity's not a good enough reason to ask.

I know...tell me about it. Hell, I'll answer his/her question. If you're a member of an NPHC org and there isn't a chapter where you're transfering, yes, you are still a member. You're a member for life no matter where you go. If you wanted to start a chapter you would probably have to contact nationals to see what they say.

That's correct. When you join an NPHC organization, you don't join the NPHC per se, you're joining your particular sorority or fraternity that falls under the NPHC umbrella. Once you join the organization, you are a member both of the organization in general on a national level as well as the chapter through which you pledged. If you happen to transfer after joining to a campus that has no active chapter, you are then a member of the organization in general, but not a member of a particular chapter, unless of course you join a city-wide chapter or something like that. From this point it depends on your individual organization's set up. That is generally how it goes, though.
