transfering to another school
I need a little help. I'm transfering schools, but I still want to be involved in my sorority. What do I do? Thanks!

See if your sorority has a chapter at your new school. Most organizations will let you affiliate with your organization at your new school. You may need a letter from the president of your current chapter or something like that. Check with your nationals about your procedures for affiliation, and good luck at your new school!

Like XOgirl said, check with your new campus and see if they have a chapter.
A girl from our chapter transferred to UC-Berkeley and decided to affiliate with their chapter. What she did was have a letter signed by our chapter president and advisor, and in addition to that it had to be approved by our executive council before it got sent over to the new chapter. The new chapter in turn had to approve it and then forward it to IHQ. Again, these were procedures for my GLO. If your GLO doesn't have a chapter at your new school, find out if there's an alumnae chapter or club near it, and find out if you can go alumnae status. It won't be the same as being a collegian, but you'll still have that connection. And PrincessKaite is right--you're a member no matter where you go! |

Affiliating means joining up with another chapter of your sorority if you transfer--well, that's putting it simply. The second chapter doesn't have to take the prospective affiliate either--she has to be voted on all over again. Of course if they turn her down, she's still a member of ABC.
I asked some questions about it on a thread during the fall. |
