Depledging a NPC Associate Sorority?

I am considering depledging from a NPC Associate status sorority and was wondering if there would be any problems with me pursuing formal recruitment next year? The sorority I'm pledging for doesn't really participate in Panhellenic activities (it actually prioritizes its ethnic-based greek council instead, and 'hazes' with two quarters of pledgeship), but I'm not sure if DPing will hurt any of my chances. I'll be asking someone from the Panhellenic Association at my school, but if anyone here could assist me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

I take it you mean that the sorority has associate status at your school only? There are currently no sororities that have an associate status w/ NPC on a national level.

I'm not sure why you're saying 2 quarters of pledgeship are "hazing" as some groups do take a semester, which would equal two quarters. This is usually stated when pledging is begun and so cannot be called "hazing." Also - what do you mean "prioritizes its ethnic-based Greek council instead"? Which council is this?

More information helps us to help you.

I take it you're in a local or regional sorority that exists alongside some NPC chapters and is an associate member of the local college Panhellenic.

If you depledge, you are eligible to rush again, but you probably must wait one year from the date you originally pledged (just as if you had pledged and depledged from an NPC sorority chapter). By becoming an associate member, your sorority chose to abide by NPC rules with regard to things like recruitment.

Hope this helps.

I wonder if she is one of those fraternity "little sister" groups?

Those would not be in Panhel, even as associates.
