ALPHA OMICRON PI RECOLONIZES 149TH CHAPTER AT VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY
Brentwood, Tenn.--Alpha Omicron Pi is pleased to announce the recolonization of its 149th chartered chapter. The Rho Beta Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi at Virginia Commonwealth University was recolonized on September 22, 2007. This ceremony concluded four days of colonization parties and personal appointments administrated by international volunteers and staff.
The Rho Beta Chapter was the 149th installed chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity and was closed in May 1995. Our effort to recolonize the chapter began several months ago when the university opened for extension. At the closing of the selection procedures, Alpha Omicron Pi accepted the university’s invitation to begin the process of recolonizing our Rho Beta Chapter. The Colonization Ceremony was hosted by Allison Allgier, Vice President of Development. The ceremony was attended by representatives from area alumnae chapters, including many alumnae of the Rho Beta Chapter. Forty-five wonderful women accepted bids from AOII. The colony’s members are an academically advanced group of talented and well-rounded women. Continuous Recruitment will be implemented throughout the semester and into fall 2007 with installation targeted for Spring 2008. The next few months will be full of fun, learning, and sisterhood as the colony prepares to be installed into the Fraternity. Members will participate in weekly education sessions and sisterhood events, as well as socials, philanthropic events, and a colony retreat. There are also bylaws to write, officers to elect, and procedures to establish. Additionally, a Resident Consultant, Tracy Elleard, will stay with the chapter through installation. |
aopirose...what do the colony pins look like? Are they the same as our new member pins? I've read about these colony pins but have never seen one and never heard of them refered to as new member pins, so I always wondered if they were the same. Do you know?
Our colony member pins are roses and look similar to this http://www.aoiiemporium.com/emporium...?idproduct=401 . They will use these pins until the chapter is installed. After that, NMs will use the sheaf.
Interesting...have they always done this? I remember that my chapter withheld roses from us as NMs since we didn't have a crest like other orgs. I have to get over that since it's obviously not an international rule!
DEFINITELY not an International rule!
