TLC ?

I heard a rumor that chapter advisers were sent a letter that basically said that CAs will not be attending TLC. I also heard a similar rumor about VST. Assuming either rumor to be true, would the reason be so that in fact, and in appearance, TLC looks like it is purely leadership skills training and NOT any AGD training ?
Just curious what others have heard.

Let's break what you said.;)

Leadership skills and not AGD training??? If you are saying they aren't the same, boy is it for you, lol.

T = THE
L = LEADERSHIP
C = CONFERENCE

TLC is held on the years that Convention is not. Normally, the sessions are a combo of collegiate AND advisors in a session, or all collegiates, or all advisors. This stretches our VST to be in 3 places at one time in the same hotel.

So, they are trying something new. This will give VST time (and much needed energy!) to have fun with the collegians.

BTW, I haven't gotten a specific letter but there was a sentence in the TLC package that said it was only for the new Collegiate President and 1 more officer.
Then, later on this year, there could be another training session that are focused on advisors-without-collegiates. There are some definite workshops that we need to focus on. There are could also possibly those that are VST only.

This is similar to time when they had specific session on finance-only topics.

At least, the advisors-only training might be in a warmer time of the year, lol.

ETA...I READ MY EMAIL!!
• There are space constraints at the sites where TLC 2007 will be held. ((I've seen the Atl. hotel, yes, there space constraints, lol.)
• The program focus of leadership development for our collegiate leaders. There will be minimal Alpha Gamma Delta specific training at this event.

• The Fraternity is planning a major volunteer training event for Chapter Advisors, Finance Advisors, Volunteer Service Team members, House Association Presidents, and Alumnae Chapter and Club Presidents. This event will be June 28-30, 2007 at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Detailed information will be sent early in 2007, but we ask that you plan now to attend.

We have agreed that, if space permits, we will accept 2007 TLC registrations from Chapter Advisors and/or additional collegiate attendees on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested, please contact Deanna Conaty, Member Services Coordinator at International Headquarters. (($165 A PERSON!))

I've never been to PA!! yea!!)

There won't be a whole of VST at TLC either. The only VST that will be at TLC are those who are facilitating something or who are being assigned a specific role. Many of the sessions are being done by outside speakers. That list has not yet been finalized.

The training event at Duquesne is going to be great!

ETA: I think you should have been on the distribution list, DC, so I've forwarded the letter to you. It says it is to all CAs and VST.

Not exactly TLC but great news.

There are updated Collegiate Manuals/Handbooks on the Member Services site.:D

I get to go to something official... finally! I've never been to anything like TLC or convention... I'm excited.

greeklawgirl 11-21-2006 01:05 PM

Dee, are you definitely going to the Duquesne event? I'm seriously debating making the trip but I guess I'll know for sure when we have more details.

AGDLynn 11-21-2006 07:05 PM

The work project I'm assigned to is supposed to have the Testing completed about June 7th. It had better be done by the end of the month cause I'll leave anyway. ;)

Provided I am reappointed to VST, I will. VST applications and reappointments will be occurring prior to that. However, I think it will be important for almost everybody to be there because there could be some major changes that we will all need to know about. This is why the new manuals have only been published online and not in print, because they could all be changing a lot with some of the Strategic Planning task forces that have been re-evaluating the way we do a lot of things (esp. reporting).

That thought hadn't even occurred to me...I guess because I was just appointed, I didn't realize that applications and reappointments were coming up so soon! :)

Anyone know if they are going to publish a new HA manual? The last publication date was 1994 if not before that. There are so many changes that have happened since then. Besides the fact that laws have changed and we are going things different... I still have a manual that mentions pledges and actives.

AGDZO Susan 11-27-2006 11:31 AM

Yes!

AGDLynn 11-27-2006 04:29 PM

Susan, I don't want to put you on the spot but do you have some idea when the HA manual will be posted?

We are about to re-establish our HA and want to make sure we are on the right track. Our HA Specialist will becoming in Jan or so but we want to make sure we've read the manual first, lol.

Plus, it will help with the potential new Greek housing at WG. Our last meeting of this year will be in a couple of weeks.

Thanks.

AGDZO Susan 11-28-2006 10:31 AM

Lynn,
Not sure when it'll be ready. It's been going through the editing process so I know it's getting close to being done.

GtownGirl98 11-28-2006 10:48 AM

Hey Susan... will this be for both types?

AGDLynn 11-28-2006 07:45 PM

I think that both (incorporated and unincorporated) are in the same manual/guide.
