Finding a Faculty Advisor

Hello all! As most of you know I'm trying to get a colony going here at NCSU, and we almost have the bare minimum # of 15 girls (eventhough if we can get more, the better obviously!). I'm having a really hard time trying to find a facutly advisor for us. I'm still new to the campus and don't know any of the faculty. I've tried emailing people in the service organization department area about hoping to find someone, but I haven't gotten any responses back. Any ideas on how to find one? How did Alpha Zeta find theirs?

Hope this helps

We found our advisor through connections and asking other faculty members that we already had a repor with through other organizations. With many of the potential members being very active on campus, it went smoothly.

I wonder if any chapters that are close with their faculty advisors could ask their advisors if they know anyone at NCSU they could talk up OPA to and get you in contact with? (Maybe this is a stretch, I don't know, but academia is a small world.)

Yeah, or along the same lines, you could get a list of OPhiA alumnae who are located in your area from the National Sec and see if any of them have any connections at NCSU. Or, maybe one of our officers/appointments/etc has connections there -- I'm pretty sure Patti Ramey (insignia@omegaphialpha.org) works in the area of college academics/admin, she might know someone. Heather Harmon (leadership@omegaphialpha.org) has a list of TLCs, and Lisa Guest (alumnae@omegaphialpha.org) has a list of DAAs -- try both of those, too.

It's definitely worth tapping into local alumnae, though! If nothing else, they might be interested in working with your colony!
