Some questions about Formal Meeting
 

So I was wondering if some of the details of formal meeting are written down anywhere, or if they're just passed down by mouth like at my chapter.

- Does anything state which officers wear what collars and pendants?

- Does anything state what order the officers sit in at the table if they all sit at the front?

I know my answers to these questions, but they're not answers that came from any official guide.

Also, I'm looking for a copy of Ritual What and Why if anyone has a copy. Thanks guys!

Ritual For Conducting Business Meetings is found in "The Open Rituals Of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity" (which also has Installation of Officers). It says that collars and pendants are optional equipment, but not who wears what, nor who sits where.

This publication and "Ritual - What and Why" can be ordered from IHQ.

They should also be available online.

From the Instillation of Chapter Officers

Matt, there's something in your post that takes me back nearly 35 years.

At the time of our chartering, one of the am classes made a big beautiful wood plaque with smaller plaques hanging down from it in honor of that occasion. It included large LXA letters and the date of our "instillation", among other things.

When the finished product was unveiled, the entire chapter stood admiring it and appauled. Suddenly one brother asked, "Isn't instillation spelled with an "a"?

Oh crap.

Maybe it had to do with distillation (from chem lab, of course)

I don't know if it was ever corrected, but to this day when I write that word my brain whispers "instaaaallation". :)

LOL, sorry I posted that during Gratuitous Transfers and wasn't really paying attention. My 2nd little brother made me a paddle. Across the bottom it said "Xalepa Ta Xala."

Follow-up question:

On the Installation of Chapter Officers questions add-in page for Theta, it mentions a Green collar with a bridge pendant...since nationals doesn't offer the collars or pendants anymore (or so our ELC explains to me), are these available through Herff Jones, or some other company?

My chapter doesn't have a collar for Theta.

I would confirm this through IHQ.

Remember, there are New Colonies being Founded yearly and they have to get the equipment from some where!
