Neil Patrick Harris is gay – and wants to quell recent reports that he had denied it. The actor tells PEOPLE exclusively:

"The public eye has always been kind to me, and until recently I have been able to live a pretty normal life. Now it seems there is speculation and interest in my private life and relationships.

"So, rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."

I wasn't surprised when Lance Bass outed himself.

I was definitely surprised when someone else outed Chad Allen.

Not really sure about this one, but this kinda explains why he hasn't been romantically linked to anyone. I can't recall ever seeing him photographed with women. Now I know why.

I had a huge crush on Chad Allen in the 80s/90s.

Now that I could have him, I don't want him anymore. :confused:

I thought he was married. :confused:

And now it won't be convincing seeing him play Barney the playboy on "How I Met Your Mother".

I feel like I knew this a while ago. I think the stint in Cabaret tipped me off.

My first reaction was "shocking" :rolleyes: But then I was like, "Wait, seriously?" I'll still love him as my favorite teen doctor and as Barney the playboy on How I Met Your Mother. His role (as himself) in Harold and Kumar was hilarious too. :D

My hubby just told me like 5 minutes ago. The first place I checked was GC b/c I'm always the last to know about this kind of stuff.
I'm still surprised by this one.

Now I'm waiting to hear if and when we'll ever find out about Kevin Spacey. There's a guy who's never linked to any women, has persistant rumors run rampant about his sexuality, yet I still don't believe he's gay.

That is utterly ridiculous that your opinion of him completely changed because of his sexual orientation.

That said, when did this become news... I mean new news? I've known this for a while now it seems.

I was kidding, it was a Harold and Kumar-ish reference. That being said, I can't really say I think homosexuality is "cool"

When I saw him in Cabaret when I was in NY a couple of years, I was sure at that time.

He was in Rent too. I've never seen the show or the movie. Was his character gay in Rent? I know he was the guy that wears the striped sweater.

If you're talking about the striped scarf...that's Mark, who's one of the show's only non-gay/bi characters.
