We have offerd space for them to come an live with us until they can get back into their new reinvited house.

I donate to their service or fundraising projects such as cabarets, fish fries, or raffles. I usually end up donating to the Omegas or AKAs since they are the two organizations besides Delta that are most visible at the graduate/alumnae level around here.

When people ask me about African American organizations that do certain philanthropies, I tell them that any of the NPHC graduate/alumnae chapters can be of assistance. It doesn't matter what org people go through as long as it is serving the greater good.

I am more than willing to help get information for any GLOs on campus, particularlly when it comes to history, information & events, and of course records kept at the university's Soldiers' Tower memorial.

When I was an active, my chapter always supported other sororities' philanthropy events. Generally, if (say) AXO were holding a lip sync contest (that was what the AXO chapter at my school did as their major annual fundraiser), every other sorority would enter an act, plus every sorority and many fraternities would buy "house tickets" - the GLO pays a flat fee and anyone in the GLO can attend. Chapters would then return the favor - AEPhi would get a house ticket to AXO's fundraiser, and in turn, AXO would get a house ticket to AEPhi's fundraiser.

Additionally, sorority members attending other sororities' fundraisers were encouraged to wear their own letters to show Panhellenic support.

When I was a senior, I attended a fundraiser for a sorority on campus. I dragged my then-boyfriend / now-DH along. My sorority had a house ticket, so I got in on that, and I paid for his admission. It was an election year, so the sorority ran an impromptu political impersonation contest. DH does a great Ronald Reagan, so he got up and did an impersonation, playing off on Reagan's Alzheimer's disease. He won the contest. When he sat back down, I whispered in his ear that his impersonation was oddly appropriate, as the sorority running the show was Sigma Kappa and their philanthropy is Alzheimer's research. (I have since gathered that it's gerontology in general.) He thought I was kidding.

The kicker was that after the show, we ran into some of his friends who had attended. He introduced me as "my girlfriend Nancy". Given the Reagan impersonation, they did not want to believe that my first name actually is Nancy. :p

yeah, when I can, and if it wouldn't hurt Theta Chi, Radford or Iota Zeta, then yes, absolutely I would..."extend the helping hand" is the motto, so I would be a hypocrite if someone needed my help and I didn't give it.

One of our chapter's founding sisters (we're only about... er.. 9 years old now or so) died after a heart transplant didn't take. Every year our chapter walks and volunteers for the walk that her parents have set up in her name. It's now a whole foundation in her memory.

The KDs on campus volunteered at the walk for us several years in a row so we could all walk together. This was particularly special since for my first two years there were actives who knew Casey very well. That is Panhellenic sisterhood :D

We absolutely did. Even other GLOs at nearby universities, we tried to send at least a sister or two as a measure of goodwill, to the chapter, campus, and group they were helping.

We did quite a few things that have been already mentioned, but I'll add two more:

1) One sorority just couldn't get their numbers up (they had SIX!!), yet there was a move to bring a new sorority on campus. We got a letter writing campaign together and the colony was put off another term, while the small sorority had a recolonization. Both chapters are still on campus!

2) Since we were all in suites in the same dorm (except two), we would set up a "Study Break Bar". We had a coffee urn that was used just to heat water, lots of instant coffee, tea bags, and hot chocolate, and cookies or such. Then we put signs in the lobby & elevator to join us for a study break from 11pm>12midnight; women only, come as you are. That way, no one cared how anyone was dressed, and there were distinct hours - an alarm would sound for midnight. I don't think anyone does that now, and it's a shame - a lot of good Panhellenic unity came out of those study breaks. Well, except the one night when everyone was arrested, but that's another story...

UCF has a very Panhellenic atmosphere and the chapters help and support one another.

And now you have to tell that story before I e-pummel you. In a loving, panhellenic way of course. I'm trying to help out the greek community in the spirit of this thread!

We try to support each other on campus when we can. the most recent event was Delta Sigma Phi and Delta Omega Phi's fundraisier to help a Cleveland Family who's Dad was a member of the Police Department that was killed in the line of duty. They served Pancakes in the morning for Five Dollars and Spaghetti in the evening for ten dollars on campus. pretty good turnout.
