Rec Form

Hey girls! I'm hoping someone can help me with this- A girl I know that was a Chi O is writing me a rec, but she's overseas at the moment and doesn't have access to her alum magazine. We just figured that we would be able to find a rec form on the internet and she could use that, since most sororities have them out there. But neither one of us has been able to find one! If any of y'all know where one would be available I'd appreciate it any suggestions! Thanks!

Hi-
Email me at sue_xo@hotmail.com with her address- I have the rec forms and can get them to her. You let me know if you need the rec ASAP or via regular mail- I can make the arrangements.

Take care!!!!

Hey Chi O's- I am getting names from you all for people to send rec applications to - just want to let you know- THANK YOU!!!

Hint for those who don't know this - the form should be signed by two alums (i.e.- after reviewing Rolltides -I did the 2nd signature for her)

Also, highschool faculty can do a rec for the young lady also.

Let me know if anyone needs help! Sue

Sue-
Thanks for taking care of that for me!! Is this just a policy that Chi O has or is it like that for all sororities?? What happens if someone sends a rec in with only one signature?

Also, when you said HS faculty can write a rec, do you mean a faculty member that is an alum or just any faculty member as in male/female teacher or administrator?

Sue_XO 07-03-2001 01:36 PM

I don't know about other organizations- but it is our policy. Yes, any highschool faculty can write the rec but you need the alum signatures. If you do not know any Chi Omega alumni; go to our website and look under alumnae http://www.chiomega.org/master.cfm-pg=alumnae.htm

Find your state and see the closest alumni chapter to your hometown. Call the contact person and they will do everything they can to help you with a R.I.F. (Recruitment Information Form) and the signatures you need. I know being a senior in highschool- it is hard to do a cold call like that but trust me, trust me, trust me- the person you talk to will be so happy to hear from you and help you beyond belief!!

Thank you for your help!

Good answer, Sue.

The Alum Chapter contacts are the best people to work though. They are more in the loop, so to speak, with the best, latest, and most accurate info about what to do, when, etc. with recruitment. Many of the members may be out of touch with the "official requirements and timesframes" for a particular rush season.

Also, go to the Panhellenic Webpage for the University you are attending. They generally have info about the Recruitment process that is specific to you getting into the Rush process.

I have a question...
If we know of a girl that will be attending another university and would like a recommendation for Chi Omega, are actives allowed to write recs? Like, could I write one for another girl? Just wondering because I'm not sure. Thanks! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Our chapter members don't write recs. This is why its best for somebody who is interested to contact the Alum group closest to them if they don't know an alum.

I think they want to keep the members out of potential conflicts that may arise during rush--internally, with Panhellenic, and if a rushee does or does not get invited or if she pledges.

Besides the Alums won't get caught up in the emotion as much as actives who are in the pressure of the recruitment process. There is less liklihood that Alums will be tempted to run afoul of procedures...etc. etc.

When we send our information and application to the alumnae groups, will they usually definitely write a rec for us? Also, how do we know if they have written one? Do we just sit back and hope that they did.....

if you go to Chi Omeaga nationals web site at www.chiomega.com they have the alumni groups for each state and the contacts. By each name they have tele no. and some have email addys. Contact the alum rep nearest you and they will be glad to work with you.

Help the Newbie!

So Im going to rush at the University of Southern Mississippi. I have no friends/relatives/associates/old teachers/etc. that are alums of the eight sororities on campus. Im hoping to go to rush to "find my home away from home", but will it hurt my chances to not have any recs? Is there a way to meet alums that can write me recs?

USM sororities:
Chi Omega
Tri Delta
Delta Gamma
Kappa Delta
Phi Mu
Pi Beta Phi
Kappa Alpha Theta
Alpha Delta Pi

If anyone knows how to find alums in MS let me know please!

Contact the Nation Panhellenic Conference. http://npcwomen.org/alumnae-panhellenics/directory.aspx There are Alumnae Panhellenic Associations in Hattiesburg, Jackson and Pike County. Hattiesburg and Pike County don’t have web sites linked to the NPC site but if you contact NPC, they can probably put you in touch with them.

My daughter is at rush at USM right now and I did not get her a chi o rec!! I could scream because word got back to me last night that she LOVED chi o and KD ... I got the KD covered, but my 3 Chi O friends were all out of town and with 4 kids on summer break, I just sort of dropped the ball. Now I want to call a friend and see if she can call in a rec, but not sure if its too late!! What do ya'll think?
