DG Pledge Manual

I recently won an early 1960's pledge manual off of ebay and I recieved it today! Two things that stuck out to me is that the pledge period used to be a minimum of twelve weeks long, and if you had a "secret marriage", you could be expelled from DG (if you were a pledge at the time, you were "considered to have broken" the pledge).

Interesting how times have changed. Just wanted to share :)

Yes, this is why we celebrate anniversaries the way we do for the calndar year (runs June to July). For example, if I am celebrating 50 year members, I would celebrate those initiated in 1957 and not 1956. Because members used to be initated in 3 months (hence rolling into the next year).

Yeah, we were a pledge the entire first semester. Had to make a minimum GPA to be initiated. It was a good incentive to study! But it seemed like you were a pledge forever.
