Stetson Sorority Allegedly Stole Copies of Newspaper
Some members of a sorority at Stetson University in Florida allegedly stole copies of an issue of the student paper. This kind of thing seems to happen a few times every year on different campuses. It usually means just more publicity for a story that some people didn’t like, and a little disciplinary action:
http://www.splc.org/newsflash.asp?id=1357&year= Excerpts from longer article: . . . members of a campus sorority allegedly stole about 700 copies of the paper. . . . [the Dean of Students] said the university is investigating the theft, but would not confirm the sorority in question’s identity. She also said the sorority is not making any statements to the media. . . . Staff members reprinted the stolen copies, but are estimating a loss of $2,300 in advertising revenue and printing costs. . . . [the Dean of Students] said she anticipates that the sorority in question will pick up the cost of reprinting the paper and the lost advertising revenue. Both [the editor of the paper] and [the Dean of Students] said the sorority's chapter president has said she will make a formal apology to the newspaper staff soon. |
The article that you posted mentioned that it was members of ZTA who allegedly stole the papers because in included an article about their relocation due to poor living conditions.
So the article said that their on-campus house was in poor condition. If they didn't want the spotlight on them then, they really have it on them right now! |
Update: a student has apologized and the sorority is making a payment to cover costs of reprinting:

...I have to ask the obvious question...
How do you steal a free newspaper? |

OMG, $1,200.00 for stolen free newspapers.
Insane to say the least. This is a crock of crap. Sounds like someone is just trying to prove a point. I doubt that one ZTA stole the amount of papers of $1,200.00. |
