Operations suspended at Cal State Fullerton

Operations of our chapter at Cal State Fullerton were indefinitely suspended yesterday. Their conduct, coupled with the campus and city environment, created a set of conditions that dictated closure. Their continual academic and conduct difficulties, and their failure to take ownership of the problems sealed their fate.

This action is pending GHZ approval but I believe that they should, and will, ratify the decision.

It is always sad to hear of a Zeta closing.:(

But if the rules are not followed as have been given I am sure many times then, it is time to cut them loose.

They can only give the whole International a bad name.

I just hope when the dust settles, there will be a rebuiling process there in the future.

John, I'm sorry to hear that. I feel bad for you.

ZAX,
Jono

Conditions were such that continued operation just would not have resulted in a viable chapter. There were conduct issues by the chapter plus other, non-controllable factors in and around the campus which made any attempt to continue operations a losing proposition. Drop me a note off-line and I'll discuss in greater detail.

Fullerton

Sorry to hear about CS-F, John. Sounds like the campus is having its own set of problems that might make it difficult to gather a decent crop of members.

BTW, how are things in Berkeley?

Fullerton, Cal

Your assessment of Fullerton is accurate on the big picture side. There are other dynamics in play as well. For discussion over coffee sometime.

Cal is on hold from last summer. More later.

I always hate to hear about a chapter closing. It always seemed like the listings of chapter closings always outnumbered the listing of new colonies or charters.

Is the first chapter that has closed this Fall Semester? How many total for the year?

I am not sure about this R, but IHQ seems to not keep us in the loop when it comes to closing and opening chapters.

As I said, it is always sad to hear of a Zeta being closed, but it is never done lightly and usually for good reason.

With the experence I had with IHQ and LX Z it was very rewarding for us.

This is a far cry from a few years past.

While it'd be nice if there was more info put out by IHQ regarding start-up chapters, and those in trouble - I can kinda see why they play it close to the chest...

If IHQ simply mass-mailed or stated that ____ Zeta was in trouble because of chapter or system issues; or that _____ university will be starting up a colony/chapter - then IHQ couldn't really control who or what kind of help would be coming to the chapter; and in some cases this can exacerbate the issue.

But shouldn't the general LXA public have some sort of knowledge or the status of our chapters?

Do we really want our HQ to be so secretive that no one sees the problems arise, and then at one GA they finally have to come clean that X amount of chapters have closed, or that they are having problems in X area?

I just think it is better to tell the general LXA then to try to sweep it under the rug.
