Pro/Con Forum Master List

As there appears to be confusion over who supports the AI Forum and who is in favor of closing the forum, I am volunteering to compile a master list.

Please refrain from posting anything other than "Pro" if you are for the continuation of this forum, and "Con" if you are in favor of this forum being deleted.

By posting "Con" you are not asserting you are anti AI. You are asserting that you do not wish there to be a GC AI Forum.

The mods and John can do as they please with this information, or not.

Point of information: GC has several 1000 posters. Many of these no longer post. The people who respond in this thread are the more common posters who are part of day-to-day GC.

Thanks. Please correct me if my info does not reflect your feelings. I have pulled the initial pro/con from the current debate thread. Please post below with Pro or Con and I will update the list.

Those who don't reply don't have an interest or concern in this issue, and thereby the topic is no importance to them. I personally think the opinions of NIC members is not important to this issue, as it deals with sororities, and I won't include them on this list although they have posted.

There are those who posted opinions on the other thread, but I was not sure if you were pro/con. Please let me know and I will update this list. Thanks.

ETA: Changes. This is just a list that I compiled after reading through the other thread b/c I was curious about who was for and who was not. I'm with SydneyK. I think PT and carnation are busy enough as it is and do a good job. This forum isn't worth the effort to police "shoppers," "sunshine blowers" and "snark-divers." Please keep replies to pro/con, so we can keep this list running. I am genuinely curious to see the split of opinion.

To keep this post OPEN, please limit replies to pro or con and reserve debate for the current debate thread. Thanks for your help!!!

But if every thread is closed after 3 posts, what's the point of the forum? Eventually, PNAIs would realize that the entire forum is nothing but locked posts, and stop posting there. I realize that the goal would be accomplished, but isn't that a bass-ackward way of doing it? Wouldn't just deleting it be easier?

Heh, I knew it was a matter of time before the AIs on the list would be called hypocrites. :)

Yeah, I figured that was coming. It was helpful to me AT THE TIME, but the subforum's time has come and gone. I still say con.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but, I think the reasoning behind this is so there would still be a place for PNAIs to post their story. But, if any PNAIs get too specific or solicit recommendations, then that thread will get locked. So, every thread wouldn't be closed after 3 posts, but the way the atmosphere here been around here lately, I'm sure it would be a great deal of them (avoiding the term "majority" so as to avoid being vague or misleading).

At least, that's the way I interpreted the whole thing.

I'm con. Mainly because I think the PT and Carnation do enough without having to add those additional "policing" responsibilities.

Wow, I can' t believe I actually voted on this.

I'm in favor of letting people talk about what they want to as much as possible. It makes no difference to me if it's in on a combined AI subforum in the recruitment section or AI subforum in each GLOs forum.

Con.

Unless it is just to post their success stories after the fact!

Can we make a "knowledge of AI isn't ritual, b/c people on this board are AIs and outspoken about it, therefore if it were ritual they should have ther membership cancelled, but it's not, so they won't, so who cares if we have the forum" addendum?

Seriously, why does everyone seem to have their 'panties in a bunch' over this topic?

Oh, I'd be really tempted to sign on to that.

(except that I do care: about people being allowed to discuss anything they want to that doesn't violate policy)
