It is possible, but be prepared for a relatively lengthy process (several months, at least...but it's worth it if you are serious about it). I IM'd you w/more thoughts b/c I've known several folks who've been through the process for reasons similar to your own...definitely contact HQ and ask for the National Judiciary Chair's contact information.
