In this thread, we post if we are doing "Run for the Cure"

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and October 1st is the day of "Run for the Cure" (i.e. Race for the Cure to my American cousins), I wanted to ask if you are doing Run for the Cure?
This is my 3rd time doing it....there should be a big turnout in my city. I particularly want to do it this year because, I had a few months of err..."uncertainty" in my life this year, and I am so grateful to the powers above that all turned out well.

Anyone else?

My chapter has 20 girls doing it!

I did the National Race for the Cure in June. It was amazing!

My sister-in-law, who is a breast cancer survivor did some kind of three or four day walk (20 plus miles per day), a month or two ago in Detroit.

There are pictures of her and her college aged daughter who has a shirt that says, "She got it, she beat it, she's my mom."

Talk about emotional.

Talk about empowering.

She was on top of the world and couldn't stop talking about it.

Clearly, we're very proud of her.

I think that is the "Walk to End Breast Cancer", and it's around 60 miles long. But where do they sleep? Do you get accomodations as part of your "race entry"?

I'm not sure. My impression (which may be all wrong) is that they all stayed together in gyms or something like that.

I haven't run in the Aussie equivalent ("Walk for a Cure") though I have helped to organise a team for this event. Its great to see that theres so many people willing to help out in order to try to find a cure for this disease. On my mum's side of the family we've seen a history of breast and other cancers (all of them beat it, thankfully) so I always try to help out with these types of events if I can.

Keep us aprised guys as I'm pretty interested in seeing how you all go.

My chapter might do it.

My chapter helps plan the "RFTC". But it is in June, 2007.

In October 15, 2006 will be the Making Strides for Breast Cancer by the American Cancer Society in my city.

Our alumnae chapter volunteered in the Survior Tent at the NYC RFTC. Great day!
