Phoenix pin in addition to badge?

I was just reading on the Christopher Newport ASA website that founding sisters wear a Phoenix pin with their badge to honor the work they put into the chapter. Is it the same as the new member pin? I'm assuming it is different. Anyone have a picture?

There was a pic on the burrpatt.com website, but it's since disappeared. It's not the new member pin, it's a gold pin that (who'd of guess it) looks like a Phoenix. Sheila might have a pic (Sheila has everything).

Information about the different pins should be in your new member materials.

The Phoenix recognition pin has nothing to do with the pledge/new member pin. It is often worn by colonizing members, sweethearts or advisors.

The Phoenix Rec pin and the Mother Patroness pin aren't in Advantage. Maybe they were in Encounter? She probably doesn't have any info about them...unless AIs get different packets then undergrads.

Not sure. I don't think they're used as much as they used to be. Burrpatt doesn't even sell them anymore (or maybe they do, but you have to special order them??).

I remember starting a thread awhile ago asking about the Mother Patroness and Phoenix pins, because I'd never seen them. I wish I could get my hands on an Encounter, to see what things used to be like, and what we're missing out of Advantage.

If Chris Newport has them, they must still be selling them from somewhere, because that chapter isn't very old.

If you really want, I'll make a copy of my Encounter and mail it to you.

Do you have the Advantage?? All I really want to know is the differences. I'm sure it's a lot of the same. You could probably request Advantage from National. It supposed to come with a CD now, where Wilma Wilson Sharp "reads" the creed and other info to you...ohhhhh. Ahhh.:)

The multimedia materials are really impressive actually. I'll take a look to see if the Phoenix pin is pictured there. I believe there is a section about insignia.

My favorite part of the CD is listening to the traditional songs. Nice.

yes, I have it somewhere.

There are lots of differences.

You mean the 85 year old women singing the "Hymn to Alpha Sigma Alpha"??:)

LouisaMay 09-29-2006 09:54 AM

Yup...wobbly voices and all:D It made me smile.

As long as they aren't trying to sing the Grace. That 2 octave drop could be dangerous at that age. :)

I found the picture on the Advantage CD-ROM. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I need to write National (Krystal, maybe?) and get a copy of that CD. They kept telling us our whole NM period that it was going to be coming at any time. 4 years later, and as an Alum, I still haven't gotten it.:)
