Homecoming week

Hello greek peeps,

At my university we are about to have Homecoming, so its a tradition that a frat and sor. get together and host events for the week. I have a sorority in mind, so I have to go to their house meeting and formally ask them if they will join us for homecoming! I'm kinda of nervous because we have never done anything with them. I will take two other brothers with me and some pledges to their meeting. Question I ask is: Do ya'll have any pointers that will help and convice them to do it with us? Or anything that ya'll have tried, and it worked? Thanks for all the advice out there if anyone replys.

Last year at my school the groups paired up for Homecoming. If I remember correctly some groups just naturally paired up with each other. I would choose a group that your fraternity likes to hang out with, it'll make Homecoming events fun. It would suck to have to do a lot with a group that you guys don't have much in common with.

I would suggest to ask a few girls (girls that you know and would call friends) from that sorority, what they think of the idea and go by that reaction. In fact, if some of your brothers are dating girls from that sorority I would go that route in having them test the waters. If they are negative about it but your heart is set on doing stuff with this sorority than I would still go the meeting. It might be easier to start spreading the word in advance about pairing up with them, that way sisters have time to think about it. Also, I would have a couple ideas of Homecoming activities that you were thinking of doing, that way the sorority would know you were serious about participating.

Either way, Homecoming is a great time of year for Greeks and any group you pair up with I'm sure will be fine.

practice a few fraternity songs and go serenade the sorority of interest. take each sister a flower and have one or two guys hand them out as the other brothers sing. after all the flowers have been handed out, have a spokesperson say something to the effect of "the men of ________ fraternity respectfully request that the ladies of ________sorority join us as teammates for homecoming 2006 at __________college/university.

good luck!!

have your guys dress nicely-coat and tie if everyone can-at least dress shirt, pants and tie if not-and have everyone wear their fraternity badge.

Very intersting.

If you are just starting now?

Many times depending on the number of GLOs on both sides of the bar who wil get with another and join in Float or other projects.

Maybe the old contacts work the best. Who did you work with, who do you get along with the best?

If your Homecoming is coming up within a month, now is to late and all are or maybe tied up.

What events does everyone have planned for homecoming? It's homecoming time here at UF!

Kent State Homecoming is all next week!

We're paired with TKE and Lambda Chi Alpha.

The events:

*Flag Fight Contest- Every group makes a flag to be displayed in the student center. It must incorporate the theme "Sock it to the Rockets".

*Homecoming Olympics- There are like 5 different events (including cornhole, sack races, and more).

*Roll Call- Each group does a dance and cheer or skit that incorporates the theme "Sock it to the Rockets".

*Banner- Each group makes a banner to be displayed at the bonfire that incorporates the theme.

Singing and brining flowers work well. Bottomline is to just do it. Chics dig dudes with a pair.
