Rings for badges?

Hi!
I'm an Alpha Gamma Delta alumna from Gamma Alpha chapter.

I was initiated in 1992 just to give you a general idea of my age and when I was there.

I'm recently become aware of and somewhat addicted to Greek Chat. I was really curious about rush results because a close friend had a daughter going through, and now, I can't stop reading. I had been wondering about something for a while, and this seems like a good place to ask.

When I was an undergraduate I can remember that there were rings that you could clip your badge into and then wear the badge as a ring. They were only for alums so I didn't get one then.

Are these still available and does anyone know where to get one?

Thanks!

I have one and if I can find it and it's your size, I'd send it to you, lol.

To be honest, I didn't like it because I have the all-pearl badge and I was afraid that I would knock a pearl off, esp. the taller one in the middle.

Plus since our A & D are more pronounced, it means sharper edges.

There are other org's badges that would be better suited than ours as a ring..

To be honest, if I had it to do over again, I'd order an amorial bearings ring instead. You would probably feel more comfortable wearing it to different types of occasions.

So..buy the pendant (necklace) ring with the open circle (as opposed to the round, solid disk) so that you can wear our Badge as a necklace (makes it a lot easier to keep track of, lol.) and a different type of ring.

Found this on the Herff-Jones website for Alpha Phi:

The pendant was about $75/$80.

Thanks!

I can totally see how it might be too big. I have the same kind of badge that you do.

I don't imagine that I'll wear it very frequently, but I don't wear it at all now, which seems sad.

The necklace sounds like a good idea too.

I didn't see any on the site when I looked, so I'm glad to have the link.

Interesting... do you know why they don't offer it for our Badge anymore?

I have both the crown pearl and a plain badge (Ebay rocks). I didn't know we now had the option to get one with more diamonds (it was a chapter tradition the 4.0 or highest pledge at Initiation got the diamond) but I had 4.0 semesters later on so I don't feel guilty about wanting the bling badge, darn it!! LOL

I am thinking about getting a ring clip for my plain badge. I have seen them in the past, and I think you could buy the ring holder at Convention.

I did have my original badge, guard and dangles on a necklace, which, sadly is now lost to the ages. We had some things come up missing when some contractors we had doing our wood floors came back for a "shopping trip".

Oh, and, if you do contact Balfour (or who the Official Fraternity jewler is--I can't recall right now) they are very nice! I ordered the commerative Crest bracelet for AGD's 100 Year Celebration and they were very helpful.

Re: Balfour

It was Burr Patterson Auld but they got bought out by Herff Jones. If you go to the Shop AGD icon, that will provide a link.

Our badge as a pendant

The sisters that I talked with who had the solid disk said that they wish they had gotten the open one.

One thing to think about.

You will need to get a jeweler to put a notch in the open circle if you have an Honor of Epsilon Pi or Chapter Guard - otherwise, it is VERY HARD to get the clasp to close without breaking it and/or having it pop open. (Voice of experience, ;) ).

I found an internet dealer who has badge holder rings through Ebay. He sent me an email with a link with tons of badges clipped to it. Shoot me a PM if you'd like his link. I am kind of so-so about giving this guy business since he is a "pinhead" (badge collector) (and has our badges marked wayyyyy tooo high anyway).
