Lavaliering question
Okay Ladies, here's a question for you. We all know that women can be lavaliered by a boyfriend who is in a fraternity. Now the question is, can I lavalier my boyfriend, who isn't in a fraternity, as a similar pre-engagement thing. I know that it was originally for guys to girls, but moving with the times and being a feminist and all, I'm all for equality. Please advise me in this rather unusual situation. Thanks ladies!

Not AOII but...
one of our sisters lavaliered her boyfriend (later fiance/hubby) because he wasn't in a fraternity and therefore couldn't lavalier her. He was very close friends with many of the sisters and loved the idea and no one had a problem with it. If he'd been just a "regular" boyfriend I don't know how it would have gone over, but he was around more than some sisters were. :) |
When I was in school, if a boyfriend was not in a fraternity, then the girlfriend could get "pearled". It basically meant the same thing as being lavaliered and there was a candlel circle for it. The only person that I ever heard of getting lavaliered with our letters was our House Mom (she even cried).
Also, I remember seeing tee-shirts for boyfriends at one time that had IIOA on them (since they were a reflection of the AOII)- that might be cute to get him as a lavalier or engraved on a signet ring or something. Anyway, there is my 2 cents! |
When I was in school, I remember that if a guy was not in a fraternity, he could lavalier a girl with her sorority letters.
