Rushing
Hello everyone...
I am rushing in the Spring for the first time. I didn't go through Fall Rush and I have heard that Spring is very different. I am rushing Chi-O at SWT and I am getting a little nervous, because I just don't know what to expect. SWT this year had an extremely large fall rush, which they weren't prepared for... even legacy's were dropped from some sororities. Will I have as good of a chance if I didn't rush last fall? |
Jules~ Congratulations on deciding to go through Spring Recruitment! I am not sure of where SWT is, but regardless each chapter is different. I know one of the main things most/all Chi Omega chapters look for is scholarship. So if you have a good GPA you should be okay, but I can't promise anything. Recruitment is really rough. Personally, my chapter doesn't participate in Continuous Open Bidding/Spring Recruitment. Therefore I'm not sure as to how they work it out.
I just recommend putting your best foot forward and to keep an opend mind. If you have kept your grades up and are involved on campus that will help. Another thing you might want to do is get a recommendation. I think that the active girls can't write one for you, but if you know any alumna they could. But maybe recs don't count for Spring Recruitment (like I said, I'm not sure). So, I hope that helps. Please keep us posted. If any of my sisters have advice PLEASE post and help her out. Love in Chi Omega~ Amy [This message has been edited by Hootie (edited January 05, 2001).] |
Thank you so much Hootie! SWT stands for Southwest Texas State University and it is located in San Marcos, Texas. I have a recommendation on it's way and my GPA is a 3.21 right now. I have a few friends in XO already and one of them is in an officer position (I know that doesn't mean a whole lot) but at least I am on the right track.
One of my biggest worries is that there will be a lot of girls returning for Spring Rush and only so few spots. If anyone knows what a normal size quota is for Spring, I would love to have a better idea? Thanks. You see, our Fall Rush was 3 times the size they were expecting and even legacies were turned away. I guess I am just getting butterflies. In any case I am really praying and hoping that I will become a sister in Chi Omega. Thank you so much for your support and kind words. Anymore suggestions and comments would be awesome, thanks ladies. |
Jules,
I am so excited to hear that you are interested in Chi Omega! The advice everyone else has given you is great, and it is really good that you already have friends in the house. Maybe you could ask them to casually introduce you to other sisters just so they recognize you at rush. And as everyone has said already, just be confident and be yourself. It will all work out for the best! Good luck! |
Jules- I'm so excited that you are going thru rush and looking at Chi Omega. I know at my school- anyone who had a 3.0 or above was automatically invited to a second party so if it is the same at SWT, you are on the right track with your high GPA. When you are at the rush party- make sure to meet other women instead of talking with your friends. You know your friends in the house are already rooting for you so it is important to meet the others too. Like everyone else said- just be down to earth and sincere and PLEEEAAASSEE let us know what happens! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Good Luck! Sue
