Best Friend going through rush!!!
 

So my best friend in the world is a freshman this year and just started rush tonight at a smaller school with 4 chapters! I'm so excited for her and she's been really excited. Both of her sisters are alum of a group that doesn't have a chapter at her school so she doesn't have any real pressure to go one way or another. Seeing as we used to get together on Thursday nights and watch The O.C. in her game room, the chapters will be named after 4 female characters from the show, hehe. She had the first round tonight.

Marissa - She expected to like this group a lot going in to recruitment but was actually a little disappointed. She said the girls were nice but that she felt rather awkward around them.

Julie - She did not care to much for this particular group. She said there really was no conversation and while she talked to several girls she didn't feel like she would fit in here.

Summer - She said this group was off and on. She would talk to one girl and have a wonderful conversation and then talk to another and get only the "So what's your major? Where ya from?" She said she had a hard time seeing the current girls as all sisters because they seemed very different but overall thought they were a good group.

Kirsten - She absolutely LOVED this house. She knew a couple of the girls in this house before rush but didn't know they were in this particular group as none of the Greek girls were allowed to say which house they belonged to, only that they were Greek. She felt very at home here.

OHIO?!? Oh dear, HOOK 'EM!!! hahaha, I get to go to the game tomorrow night!

Ok well the second round (a second open round which I hadn't heard of before but I kind of like, it makes all the PNMs give each house 2 chances) is tonight from 6-9ish so I should have more information then!!!

when you have less chapters i think 2 open rounds is a great idea. on my campus when we still had 3 chapters we had 3 or 4 open rounds (rushes had to attend a minimum of 2 though more was encouraged) and then pref night invites.

2nd Round
 

Ok so tonight was the 2nd open round for my best friend! Once again she visited all four houses and, of course, some of her opinions changed.

Marissa - She felt VERY welcome and at home in the house tonight. She said the girls she met yesterday all came back and said hi and she really felt comfortable.
Julie - She enjoyed learning about their philanthropy but still felt awkward and uncomfortable in this house. She felt like all the girls had "personalities that fit into a box" and her personality was "too fat for the box." (haha her words, not mine)
Summer - She felt the same about this house as she did yesterday but would be willing to go back tomorrow.
Kirsten - After tonight she was very torn between this house and Marissa. She really hopes she gets invited back tomorrow.

Tomorrow rush events start at 2 or 2:30 and she can attend a max of 3 parties for the first invitational round! She should be done around 6:30 however I won't be able to post anything until after the GAME OF THE CENTURY down here in Austin!

lol. With all the hype here you would think we were playing Michigan! :cool: hee hee. I can't help it I'm a Buckeye! Born, bred, and still living here in Ohio! It should be a great game though. Be careful going to it and such and I'm sure you will have a blast at the game. I'm personally cheering for Marissa...lol..I'm REALLY biased toward that name;)

SOOOO! First off sad night as far as Texas football goes, haha, but it was a great game!

Ok tonight my friend could go back to three houses and she was asked back by her top three!

Marissa - She didn't feel like she connected as strongly tonight with the girl she was with but still liked the house overall.

Summer - She said their skit was really cute and she liked them more tonight then previously.

Kirsten - She loved this house more then ever and felt very at home!

So tonight she preffed:

2) Marissa
3) Summer

She can go back to 2 houses for pref tomorrow!

How great for her to get invites back to her top 3! Sounds like she's having a great time so far, I hope it works out for her. :)

So my best friend finished up her prefs about an hour ago and the girls went to 2 prefs today so she went back to:

Marissa - While she enjoyed this house and the girl she talked to really made her feel welcome and wanted, she did not feel the connection nearly as strongly as she did at Kirsten.

Bids are handed out at 9 pm tomorrow (SO LATE!). I'll post as soon as my friend tells me!!!

it sounds like her week has gone well so far. hopefully she gets her first choice tomorrow!
