2006 VMAs

First impression: The show was wack. Not since Chris Rock have they had a good host.

Performances:
Justin's performance was ok. I like 'SexyBack', actually I'm the one who originally brought sexy back but that's for another discussion.

Beyonce: I like the performance, looked good as always, thought some of the moves during the dance break were a riff of Janet's 'If' video.

Christina: A little flat sounding to me but her performance was ok.

Luda: Good performance but were the Pussycat Dolls necessary?

Pussycat Dolls: Why did you feel the need to let all 80 of you thank people during your acceptance speech? Only two people really sing in the group anyway.

TI: 'What You Know' is last year bruh. Can I get some 'Live in the Sky'?

Hype Williams Tribute: Busta I will always rock to that song (Put your hands where my eyes can see). It was tight how Missy brought back the old finger waves and the big suit.

Other than that the show was garbage. AND WHO IN THE HELL ARE THE RACOUNTEURS???

Get out of my head! I was thinking more Rhythm Nation myself....she could have sat down for all of that...

don't think i will be watching the repeats...didn't miss anything:rolleyes:

and who knew Chamillonaiire could conjugate a verb?

nikki1920 09-01-2006 11:56 AM

Ditto.

Was impressed that Hype got the Video Vanguard award, I thought it went to artists? Good move, MTV.

starfish: you know you are dead wrong for that comment!!! :D :D It's true, but you are still wrong for it. :)

WTF w/Al Gore showing up? lol...

Yeah, I was real glad Hype got that award. He deserved it...for real.

Umm and as for Gore. Random as hell.

Btw, I agree Beyonce stole most of her moves from Janet. But I thought her performance was ok...nothing more. I mean, Madonna, Janet...and even Britney did that whole black/goth leather/dominatrix looking stuff before. It was alright.

I wasn't totally impressed this year...:o

You weren't the only one thinking that.

And why, oh why, do you need a reality show to find ANOTHER Pussycat Doll??

jojapeach 09-01-2006 12:32 PM

I wasn't impressed with anything except Hype winning the Vanguard Award and the tribute to him. Actually, I was only half impressed by the tribute because the VH1 Hip Honors always impress me more than the VMAs.

The show was terrible, and I flipped to it every 30 or so minutes. How can anything be good if Chamillonaire could win for best Hip Hop Video? What??? I never thought the show was rigged until then. So next year's winner will have to be that "Chicken Noodle Soup" then, right?

I think T.I. was trying to clean up the performance of 'What You Know' on the BET Awards by redoing it on the VMAs. That was pointless to perform the same song on two different awards. But I did like the crown on his hoodie. :D

Ummm...that has to be a joke.

We are >>>here<<< with B's performance. I was thinking was I suppose to be watching Ring The Alarm or Rhythm Nation?

Justin looked kind of stiff to me.

PCD: you better hope that neither a) Nicole goes solo or b) Dainty Kane kicks ya'll off as best multicultural girl group. :p

T.I.'s performance was way better this time than it was at the BET Awards (even though that wasn't his fault).

Ye, MTV heard your cry and decided to give Hype the Video Vanguard award (remember he said something at the BET awards). :D The tribute was nice and I'm glad Busta and Missy came out. And I have a message for the both of them: ya'll need to get back with Hype because the videos haven't been the same since. And Missy, did you steal Sean P.'s car? :p

Christina: I think she was great! :D And I want to borrow that red dress she wore.

And why did all of those bands look alike? And please get Chris Rock or Jimmy Fallon back. Even Diddy was better last year! This show was not exciting at all. Hasn't been the same since Madonna kissed Britney. :(

Hated Beyonce. Loved JT. Loved the Hype tribute, his videos are classic and you always know when it's directed by him. Fell asleep at the end.

jitterbug13 09-01-2006 01:57 PM

Did anyone see the guy who came up during the Video of the Year presentation? JLo looked at him like "who in the h*ll are you"? Sadly, that was the most exciting thing that happened the whole show. And I was glad to see Lil' Kim. :)

What about I have never seen the VMA's, and I'm glad to see that I have never missed anything.

RedefinedDiva 09-01-2006 05:52 PM

I remember the days when I would break my neck to be in front of the TV when the VMAs came on. Now, I barely know when the will air... nor do I care. :o

I'll try to catch the reruns so I can see the Hype tribute.

You and me both. I'm not sure how MTV still has the VMAs because they rarely show MUSIC VIDEOS.
