I need Sigma Alpha Sister Help!!!

Please message me if you are interested in helping, I will take just a little bit of your time.
I tried getting help mefore but no one responded but I am going to ask one more time.
But because this board is public and can be read by anyone, I would perfer if you email me at wilso720@msu.edu

A brief overview is...My chapter is losing grip on tradition over the past few years, several seniors that graduated last year said they would love to see our chapter start practicing more of the traditions and rituals that are original to our sororrity. I just pledged last spring and I am not familiar with the things that are no longer practiced. I am the new chaplin of my chapter and I am determined to get us practicing these lost traditions again. I am looking for girls who are familiar with their chapters traditions that our chapter may be able to adapt. We have a book of songs and such but other than that I dont know of anything. I really want to make my chapter the best it can be and I would really appreciate ANY help or guidence I can get.

My goal this year is to revamp my chapter in hopes to get more girls interested and excited about joining.

Any ideas, suggestions, or advice would be GREAT!

In Sisterhood,
Lacey Wilson

One tradition that our chapter did was say the prayer and sing the circle song at every meeting....they should both be in the green book!

The Beta Chapter begins each chapter meeting by stating the objective. We end every meeting with the prayer.

After all business is taken care of at meetings, we open the floor for special sister nominations. This gives girls the opportunity to keep the chapter members informed on what their sisters are up to. We also have these other areas that follow nominations: Hogwash (funny stories about sisters), Joys/Concerns. This way, even if you haven't talked to a sister lately, you still know what's going on in her life.

If any of our actives ever get lavaliered, engaged, married, etc...the president is informed, but the other actives are not. At the next chapter meeting, we gather in a circle afterwards and sing the circle song while passing a lit candle around. After one revolution, our president says: friendship. The candle continues making revolutions with the subsequent things being said: Lavaliered, Engaged, Married. If the girl has become engaged, she waits until Engaged is announced. When she is passed the candle, she blows it out. This signals that she is engaged, and all the sisters congratulate her.

There aren't a lot of other traditions that I can think of right now, but if I remember more, I'll let you know.

There are some great Gamma sister alumni who I know would love to share the tradition of your chapter. Contact your alumni group and ask them to help you. As alumnni it is often hard to see tradition go, but we have to let the collegiate sisters make the chapter theirs. You can find contact information on the web-site or in the alumni directory in the National Chapter Guide (or e-mail me Jamie Foster a link to me is on the web-sit). Don't worry about cold calling, at first it might be weird, but when you tell them you are a super Gamma Chapter Sister they will be happy to hear from you!
