How to Say "Thanks" to the Veterinary Staff?
 

One of my dogs was just released from the vet hospital after having very complex surgery on his spine. (a ventral cervical slot for intervertebral disk disease, for you medically-minded types!)

The doctors and other staff were so wonderful throughout the whole ordeal and I wanted to send them something as a thank you gesture.

Any suggestions?

Gift card to Petsmart (or other pet stores)

Catered lunch for the office or gift card to a really nice restaurant

I'm not sure how extravagant you want to be and I am not a pet owner so just off of the top of my head, I offer the above.

I'd send a card with a photo of you and your pet, and a box of candy or flowers. The gals up front will appreciate the treat, and the vet will add your pet's photo to his wall :)

I think sending a lunch over (with some notice so they know it's coming) would be something any office would appreciate. It's especially nice because the whole office can enjoy it. I think it's a very nice gesture to do anything though... :)

I like this idea, and it doesn't have to cost much. Subway caters, or Pizza.

I vote for having food delivered. A friend of mine used to work in a vet's and sometimes they got sooooo slammed it was hard to go and get something to eat.

Or, if lunch is too much, you can have a local coffee shop (maybe chains will do it too, I don't know) prepare a few pots of regular and flavored coffees along with some scones or cinnamon rolls or something. That way, if the office pace is too quick for lunch, people can just grab a cup of java and a muffin whenever they get the chance. This seems to go over well at my vet's office.

(You could also include a small bowl of dog treats - from your dog, of course - for the vet's four-legged friends. My vet has a several dogs/cats who stay at the office during the day, so we usually try to include them whenever we treat the office staff.)

Along the same lines, my first thought was to have a nice spread of bagels and cream cheese delivered, with coffee and juice, etc.

Surprise them with breakfast and lunch? :)

At my office, we like pizza, muffins/bagels, subs, cake, cookies. Mostly food since we do surgeries and dental cleanings during the lunch hour.

Stay away from petsmart/petco gift cards, as we can usually get most of that stuff cheaper from suppliers.

Our dog sends pizza to the staff on his birthday. But, they've seen him through three surgeries so far, and they are SO NICE to him!

A thank-you note with a pic of your pet. If you know the person(s) well, a gift certificate to a favorite non-pet store of theirs will work as well. And if you do not know them so well, a Target gift card is always very handy.

Update, here...

I called the office this past friday and found out that there is a total of 15 people working there. So, I contacted a local deli and ordered a meat platter (corned beef, ham, turkey, salami), a cheese platter (swiss, munster, provelone, american), assorted breads and rolls, potato salad, cole slaw, chips, pretzels and condiments (lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayo, pickles) and bottled water, juices and soda.

I discussed this with the office manager and the spread will be delivered for lunch on friday.

I hope everyone likes what I ordered! I'm just so grateful for how well they treated my little furry guy :)

Food is an excellent choice. We are usually so busy we don't have time to eat (in fact this the first Sunday this month that I actually got to sit down and eat my lunch for all of 10 minutes). Also, just a "thank you" note goes a long way-I love when I get these. Hope your puppy is dong well.-wishing him a speedy recovery.
