Rite of Passage

My husband and I took our firstborn to college today. I cannot believe I haven't cried yet--give me a few days! A photographer for an area newspaper took a candid picture of us while we were saying goodbye. He asked for our names, so I'm assuming he will put it in the paper. Maybe his film will mysteriously disappear! :p

Oh, MSKKG! That hurts so much, doesn't it? When my husband and 2 of the other kids took our oldest to college 6 years ago, the other 2 came back and reported, "Dad cried!"

So today, he'll be taking #6 off to college, although he'll probably be singing. "Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye." jk! But #1's adolescence was easy and #6's has been, um, interesting to say the least!

WOW - just wow... I can't believe that we've been friends for so long that #6 is now leaving the nest. I still haven't gotten over the stories from when the baby was... well, a BABY! LOL!

MSKKG - best of luck in getting through the next few days :)

Our youngest just graduated from college in May with a 4.0.

He left for New York last tuesday to live.

Our granddaughter begins kindergarten here tomorrow.

Time waits for no man. Or woman.

Congrats to you and your son, DeltAlum! You're right, blink your eyes and they're gone!

And it will even happen that fast with your son, AXOAlum!:) Just yesterday our #6 was a baby but you saw her last December doing the shimmy down the path a few feet in front of the bride and groom!

So we had a deeply moving moment as our college-bound daughter descended the stairs to leave for college with her dad. Her brothers leapt from behind bushes and drenched her with their squirt guns.

That's quite an accomplishment! Congratulations and good luck to him.

Aren't brothers wonderful, carnation?!? I'm sure #6 will remember that tender moment whenever she gets homesick. :p

Like I'll never forget when I flew home from college the first Christmas...

I had been away for 4 months--I hadn't seen anyone--my little brothers ran up to me at the airline gate and yelled happily, "When are you going back?"

My parents kept saying that they didn't mean it that way but I think they did.
