Those girls do NOT look like they're 18... and I bet I know what "small, private high school" Amanda Duval went to - if she's who I think she is and her mother works at the high school. :)

Though the participants will follow diverse paths and join different sororities, several agreed on one thing: “I guess if I (didn’t get chosen) I would feel like crap,” said Duval. “Like a sad and total orphan.”
Yikes! If my child ever said that, I might have to set her priorities straight.

What is that monstrosity of a fluffy handbag the one on the right in the polka dots is carrying?

And, no, they don't look 18.

Love the dress, but she should be shot for even considering buying that bag.

1st thing: There's a town in GA named "Social Circle"???

2nd: I agree the picture doesn't do these young ladies justice....

Trust me, those girls did not look like they were 18. I had to see them when I was helping out my chapter and I was like holy monkey balls, these girls look way older than their real age! This was the biggest group Georgia has faced (1300 girls). I have to admit, all the girls were basically the same..I was like wow..unbelievable. But, instead of the rude snotty ones, they are pretty much nice.

alum 08-16-2006 10:50 AM

Were they wearing too much makeup? It's hard to tell from the picture.

UGATammy 08-16-2006 10:52 AM

As crazy as it may seem, I didn't think they were wearing alot of makeup. It was so freakin hot. It's just crazy to see that the new generation is looking older i guess.

Oh my gosh! I know one of the girls in the pic! And, yes, girls do look much older nowadays! Haven't quite figured out why though.

tunatartare 08-16-2006 11:50 AM

I've always found that kids who went to private schools generally tend to look older than ones to went to public schools. Never figured out why though.

At least that's not as bad as Bumpass, VA which used to send my kids in fits of giggles when we saw the road sign. It happens to be near Big Butte Mtn.

Yes, and my father's side of the family is from there. It's a great little town. :)

Something to think about, alot of these girls have never failed at ANYTHING in their lives. So the prospect of NO sorority at school bidding you really does seem like OMG WTF IT'Z LIKE THE END OF THE WORLD!
