FYI - Folks you need to catch the State of Black America
 

This is just an FYI and wake up call for all African Americans. TV One showed the State of Black America on Sunday, August 6, 2006 and I know that they will probably show this program in the near future. It was facilitated by Tavis Smiley with a variety of questions asked to the various members on the panel. The panel consisted of Harry Belafonte, Professor West, Reverend Al Sharpton, Minister Louis Farrikhan (SP?), and a many of civil rights leaders (seasons and newbies), scholars, politicans, lawyers, etc. The focus centered around the book "The Covenant with Black America" and the struggles and issues we face as a people in this very divided nation. The book and address are a wake up call for us all. I hope everyone gets a chance to watch it because it's making me go back and readjust my priorities as a responsible African American citizen.

I have never posted here before but come through frequently, I think you ladies are pretty cool. Anyway, I saw the state of black america back in February when cspan aired it and bought the book right away. Its almost like my guide to living. I keep it handy to refer to on various subjects and it has most definitely enlightened me. I suggest ALL people read the book and perhaps bring the movement to your town.
