Nametag Ideas!

Hi everyone! I'm the Formal Recruitment Chair for my chapter, and I'd really like some suggestions for cute name tag ideas. I saw a really cute diamond ring idea once, but I've lost the picture. If anyone has used this idea or seen it before, could you please describe it to me or send me pictures? Any other suggestions for nametags are welcome! Thanks so much!

What are the themes for your events? We always based our name tags on the events--we used anchors for an SS Kappa Delta event, stars for an Oscars event, Records for a Musical event... I'd try to base the name tags on the events. Don't you have event chairs?

Our Panhel does not allow themes for recruitment. We have four rounds, and we typically try to match the nametags to the outfits. For open house, the girls will be wearing a variety of bright colors, for first round black, silver and gold, for second round, again they will be wearing a variety of bright colors and for preference round, they will be wearing black with pearls.

Yes, we do have event chairs; however, it is their job to make the nametags, but I come up with the idea and template (as it is part of the outfit selection).

Thanks!

Why not just do a diamond shape for each night? You can make them in colors that complement the colors that you will be wearing for each of the nights.

I like this idea for second round, but since the girls get to pick their own skirt color it would be really hard to coordinate the tags to the skirts. I think it would go with the simple but bold look you want to convey. I guess the party chairs could write names on them after dress checks, but they've got enough going on with the craft and the skit to keep them busy forever.

L, I think the diamond ring idea would be absolutely adorable with the black/gold or silver outfits. But as a past party chair - it's hard enough cutting straight lines with an exacto knife, much less circles. So if you want to do it, make someone really artsy craftsy the first round chair, lol.

For open house - maybe something similar to the ones we had last year first round? Just a black rectangle with a cute ribbon bow. You could do something polka dotted in a few of the colors of the shirts the girls will be wearing...

Do you still like the pref namtags we used last year that look like our pin, or are you looking to change it?

Since you're not allowed to have themes, then I'd go with something ADPi-related. A simple violet nametag might be nice for the colorful outfits. The cutest ones I've seen my girls do were lions made out of that foamy material, then glue on eyes & whiskers. For Pref, they traditionally make large gold diamonds with a black diamond inside of that, with names written in metalic gold ink. (It does resemble our badge, minus the clasped hands - making those would be quite challenging!!)

I always loved our name tags on Day 1: UCF Spirit Day. We cut out lion paws and added the little pads in our school colors (black and gold), laminated them, cut them out, attached a pin back and wrote the sister's name in metallic paint pen ink.

For Philanthropy Day, we cut out large red hearts, lined the border in Glitter, laminated, name in metallic...

Video Day (we don't have skits): Our theme was "A League of Their Own" so we cut out baseballs! In the past, we did "ADPi Through The Years" and the nametags were laminated stars in bright colors with a glitter border

Prefs: white, Diamond shaped, with either a pearl border or violets glued at the corners. Name written in metallic silver or blue or purple

My advice: keep your name tags simple with large simple shapes. If there is too much going on, you can't read the person's name, or the sister spends more time worrying about little doo-dads falling off the name tag.

Another chapter I worked with did a "Queen of Diamonds theme" and their nametag was a partial deck of cards-- very cute all fanned out.

Name Tag Ideas

Hey:) we are doing vh1 for our theme, for skit round we are doing best week ever and for 2nd round we have a little video themed "the fabulous life of alpha phi" we typically have plain sorta boring name tags, but our new recruitment chair is awesome, and is totally changing our recruitment and it is going to stand out alot, so I kind of want to do more fun name tags, does anyone have some cute ideas for me? thanks girls!!

How about tv sets with antennae as your name tags?

A store called Brown bag in Fort Worth does some very cute wooden pins. It has our greek letters surrounded by our symbols. I think their web site is www.thebrownbagshop.com

Also, you can never go wrong with a simple silver name tag with script writing! It is always elegant! One more idea..if you go to hobby lobby they have little wooden lions that are pre-painted and are so cute! You can just take a paint pen and write names
on them!

^^^ I'm pretty sure The Brown Bag shop closed it's business about a year ago?

Actually, I heard from a co-worker that it is still open! It's great news because they have the cutest things! They were going to close but for some reason they were able to stay open. She gave me their new card. :)

Yay!'

That's good. I looooooved that place as a collegian. We got our diamond boards from there for our bigs

Whatever design you decide on, make sure the material holds up for an entire day, or in our case 2, of Recruitment. Craft foam, laminating, hot glue guns, etc.

Also don't make them too big. I've seen some massively huge nametags over the years that are borderline obnoxious as well as cumbersome. Along with that, think about the attire the actives will be wearing. Silky, gauzy, spaghetti straps, strapless, etc can be difficult to attach a heavy/bulky nametag to.

Please don't use straight pins!!! I've seen too many girls running around in bare feet after the parties step on a lost straight pin. It only costs a few bucks for those closable pins (i.e. jewelry pins) at almost any craft store, then glue them on.

I think in some craft stores you can even find the magnetic attachments for nametags so that it won't puncture holes in your clothes. Plus, they hold better because the magnet is attracting to the other side the whole strip of the way, as opposed to the closable (or even straight pins) that only really "hold" at the two points where the pin is going through the fabric
