SUNY Binghamton sorority rush
Hey all,
My sister is transferring to SUNY Binghamton in the fall and wants to rush for the sorority chapters there. I heard somewhere that they only have Spring rush because they have minimum credit requirement or something for the freshmen. If you're a transferring student and meet credit requirement, and she go through informal rush? How competitive rushing is in Bing and do the junior transfer students have good chance to get a bid? She's looking at SDT and AZD but open to other chapters as well. Thanks. |
Well, I'd normally tell you to check the college's web site, but it seems to be down. Hopefully we've got some NO-NY folks on GC that can help you out.

Well since the site says:
"For students that may be interested in joining a fraternity/sorority - we suggest that they go through the formal recruitment process (formerly known as rush). Formal recruitment takes place at the beginning of every academic semester. The events of formal recruitmentprovide an opportunity to learn about the Greek system, the chapters locally, and the brothers/sisters currently in the chapter. Though Formal Rush occurs during the first weeks of classes, Greeks are continuously recruiting new members to join their respective organization. Eligibility to participate in the new member education or new member intake process and to be initiated requires matriculation into a University program, a minimum of 12 academic credits AND a minimum of a 2.25/4.0 grade point average (though some organizations may require a higher standard). First-semester freshmen are eligible for membership no sooner than their second semester at Binghamton University." I'm guessing that she is not a freshman anymore so she should be able to but I'm not 100% sure. But just for here to be one the safe side have her contact the Greek Life Office to find out for sure. Hope she finds the place she belongs at. |

Not every sorority has fall recruitment so I suggest she contact the chapters that interest her or the greek life staff. http://greeklife.binghamton.edu/info/contact.cgi Best wishes. |
My friend rushed at Bing as either a second semester sophomore or a first semester junior (don't remember what semester it was now) and got a bid to AZD. Good luck to your sister!
