Zeta Phi Beta Soror one of the 50 Most Beautiful People on Capitol Hill

http://www.thehill.com/thehill/expor...06/index5.html

Sarah Misailidis, aide, Rep. Al Wynn (D-Md.)

Aside from brains and beauty, this 23-year-old staff
and press assistant to Rep. Al Wynn (D-Md.) has
creativity to spare. Misailidis was an English major
at the University of Virginia before coming to the
Capitol this year, and she makes a habit of visiting
spoken-word poetry readings around the city to soak up
the verbal vibe.

"I do a lot of reading and writing for fun. … [They
are] kind of my rest spot during the workweek,"
Misailidis said. She also writes her own poetry on the
side, though she has never stepped in front of the
mike herself to read her work. Her favorite bard is
civil-rights legend Nikki Giovanni.

As for her heart-stopping looks, Misailidis takes
compliments with a grain of salt.

"I get told I look exotic, but at the same time, what
woman doesn't?" she said.

She has never entered a beauty contest before this one
and admitted that winning one is "something I thought
would make me blush" but would be "fun to explore."

"It turned out pretty well," Misailidis added
confidently, proving that a sure stride is the most
attractive feature of all.

I didn't see an "exotic look". I saw a beautiful African American woman.

Guess it's all in the eye and a matter of opinion...but I agree, she is a beautiful AA woman...

I apologize, but I think this is the stuff that makes white people uncomfortable. Why is it necc to make a huge deal out of her being black? She's pretty, sure, but as someone who's worked on the hill, there is a lot more out there. I doubt many staffers are going "man that white girl is hot." However, the incredible emphasis put on her being black places a lot of pressure on her. Hopefully we can recognize beautiful girls of all races, without fear of political consequence.

I fail to see where anyone made a "huge deal" out of her ethnicity.

I admit, I was loaded when I wrote that. What I was talking about were the people above in the posts talking about her being african american and not having an exotic look. It almost seemed like the poster who wrote that was angry about the article or something. Sorry for getting in your thread, carry on.

I've worked on the hill too, and I'd say the majority of people are ugly, irritable and poorly dressed.

Anywho, I read the issue - I think Sarah is one of the most beautiful on the list.

You really think so? I mean about the people...I saw many beautiful people when I was there, and most of the people I hung out with (mostly southern offices) were very well dressed.

Eh, you're probably right. I worked as a reporter covering the hill, so I wasn't around all the time. I think because the hill attracts younger, more outgoing people than a lot of jobs in DC, there may be better looking people there than in the rest of the city. DC in general is not a well-dressed city. I also thought a LOT of the people featured in the Hill article weren't very attractive.
