Alpha Omicron Pi Invited to Colonize at University of Waterloo
Alpha Omicron Pi is pleased to announce that the Fraternity has been invited to colonize a new chapter at the University of Waterloo. AOII’s Vice President of Development Allison Allgier and Rebecca Myers, AOII Extension and Colonization Administrator visited the university in mid-July to meet with women of the local interest group, representatives from Kappa Kappa Gamma, as well the President of the Fraternity and Sorority Awareness group.
Founded in 1957, the University of Waterloo is the fifth largest university in Ontario, Canada. The school boasts an enrollment of approximately 20,000 full-time undergraduate students, of which approximately 49% are female. There are over 2,500 graduate students. For 13 of the past 14 years, the UW has been ranked most innovative among 47 universities across the country. In 2005, for the second year in a row, the school also ranked best overall. The University of Waterloo also leads other comprehensive universities in the areas of student retention, percentage of students who win national academic awards, classes taught by tenured faculty, awards per full-time faculty, as well as alumni support. For more information, you are encouraged to visit the University’s website at: www.uwaterloo.ca
The campus currently has five Greek organizations, including three fraternities – Sigma Chi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, and Zeta Psi; one NPC organization – Kappa Kappa Gamma; and one local sorority – Sigma Lambda Gamma. Colonization of the chapter is slated for late January or February 2007. More information regarding the colonization process is forthcoming.
