Alpha Omicron Pi Invited to Colonize at University of Waterloo
VERY exciting news!
For Immediate Release July 31, 2006 Alpha Omicron Pi Invited to Colonize at University of Waterloo Alpha Omicron Pi is pleased to announce that the Fraternity has been invited to colonize a new chapter at the University of Waterloo. AOII’s Vice President of Development Allison Allgier and Rebecca Myers, AOII Extension and Colonization Administrator visited the university in mid-July to meet with women of the local interest group, representatives from Kappa Kappa Gamma, as well the President of the Fraternity and Sorority Awareness group. Founded in 1957, the University of Waterloo is the fifth largest university in Ontario, Canada. The school boasts an enrollment of approximately 20,000 full-time undergraduate students, of which approximately 49% are female. There are over 2,500 graduate students. For 13 of the past 14 years, the UW has been ranked most innovative among 47 universities across the country. In 2005, for the second year in a row, the school also ranked best overall. The University of Waterloo also leads other comprehensive universities in the areas of student retention, percentage of students who win national academic awards, classes taught by tenured faculty, awards per full-time faculty, as well as alumni support. For more information, you are encouraged to visit the University’s website at: www.uwaterloo.ca The campus currently has five Greek organizations, including three fraternities – Sigma Chi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, and Zeta Psi; one NPC organization – Kappa Kappa Gamma; and one local sorority – Sigma Lambda Gamma. Colonization of the chapter is slated for late January or February 2007. More information regarding the colonization process is forthcoming. |
How exciting to have more AOIIs in Canada! Yay us!

Yes, Waterloo is a good campus. That means, four of AOII's chapters will be in Ontario - Waterloo, Beta Tau (the most senior of the chapters ... by installation date), Iota Chi and Gamma Chi. Hey, Gamma Chi won't be the baby chapter in Ontario anymore!
 |
Sending good thoughts for the weekend!

Congratulations and best wishes to our new colony at the University of Waterloo!!
|
Sorry for crashing your board, but I just wanted to say Congratulations!
I live in K-W and have several friends who go to UW, so I might try a little more to promote sorority life (and AOPi) to them! I'm still dreaming of the day when I can get the greeks to come out for a swing dance :p (my other passion - am I really the only one who sees this as an awesome mixer idea?) Best of Luck in the future! In Our Bond, Jen |
Lambda Epsilon will be installed on February 2, 2008. Great job sisters and dozens of roses to all!

I agree...it will be nice to hear the say it in a little Canadian accent at Convention! I love the submotto they chose....sometimes the submottoes don't make much sense, but this one does! My chapter's submotto seems like they were trying to hard to find something to fit Lambda Tau...Loyalty Together is just a little redundant!! :p

Remember to drap your badge this weekend - if you are wearing your badge - in recognition of Lambda Epsilon's installation tomorrow! YAY!! :)
Congrats to the ladies at Waterloo - I ADORE the motto ("Live Elegantly, Laugh Easily, Love Eternally")! |

Yay to the newest chapter of AOII! Next time I wear my badge, I'll drape it in honor of them since i didn't have an opportunity to wear it this weekend. Does anyone know how many chartering sisters were initiated?
|
I'm not sure how many chartered. There are a few pictures on inCircle and it looks like a good amount for that campus. Look under groups and then find Lambda Epsilon - Waterloo Colony.
