And here is why I am never going to eat at the Yardhouse again...

This is not a joke, it's so surreal I almost didn't believe it happened to me. This is not my first time at the Yardhouse, but it will certainly be my last. While eating at the bar today, I felt and saw some sawdust from one of the posts on the ceiling fall on me. I thought nothing of it until about a minute later it happened again, and then about 1 minute after that a baby mouse (yeah you read that right, a baby mouse -about 1 week old) fell from the ceiling into my lap. I stood up quickly, a manager came over and casually swept the mouse into a dust pan after he had been notified of the situation. He offered to pay our bill, which was considerate, but to say that I was dismayed and disgusted - as was my friend with me- is an understatement.
While I didn't scream, or cause a scene, it was disturbing and I don't plan on eating at the Yardhouse ever again. I hope that in the future they can do more to prevent rodents from falling on to their customers. I guess the manager is lucky that I am not the type of customer to cause a problem at the restaurant, but you all can be assured that ALL of my friends who frequent the Yardhouse will no longer be doing so.

Yeah...no thanks. I had the heebie jeebies all the way home, and I don't even mind mice...just not in restaurants.

That is just disgusting...

Never ate there, but I hear great things about the Yardhouse.

Never heard of the place.

Some of the bars I frequent would probably make that place look like Martha Stewart's kitchen. What happened sounds like a freak accident. When the second mouse falls in your lap, then we'll talk :)

Wow, that's really gross.

I would have ordered dessert.

You should have had them grill it. It would be just like those restaurants by the ocean that grill the fish you buy and cook it for you. Fresh.

And why wasn't it running all over you? Did it just nibble through the ceiling tile, die, and fall on you from the sky?

OMG poor mouse! :(

Dude, which Yardhouse was this? The one in Long Beach? The OG one? The Long Beach one is tight, except for the fact you have to pay for parking! but being at the water is cool :) Anyways, I really don't get food at the Yardhouse. especially since it has like a gazillion beers on tap. But when I did get the food, it tasted great (i only got appetizers).

Anyways, the Yardhouse has lost its coolness to me. It is always so freakin crowded there. I don't like going to places with big crowds, so well you know. I aint down with that. Also too many of them have sprouted out. LBC, Newport and Irvine are all sweet, but now they have them in whack cities. Booooooo

Sorry they put mickey mouse in your food. Not cool

Co-sign with Bobby. I use to love the Yardhouse but now they're every where. It was more fun when it was a novelty and your out of town friends were impressed that they had 100+ beers on tap.

I'm kinda over it too..

Tell us which one it was though!

Yeah seriously, which Yardhouse was this???

AOII_LB93 07-27-2006 12:27 PM

This was the one in Long Beach - Shoreline village. It was still alive, but not running around because it had probably just been born a few days prior. No hair yet and stuff.

As weird as it was I felt bad for the mouse, but sheesh...restaurants should not have rodents falling on their customers. They said an exterminator was there the week before, I said "You should call them and get your money back, they did a crappy job."

Look out for dropping mice.

Eeek....luckily I'm far enough away from LB that i probably won't ever go to that one. I do hit up the Newport location sometimes though! That's pretty nasty. I mean, i understand that they can't always control what gets in the building, but a live rodent is enough to make me NEVER go to that Yardhouse!

That's crazy. You handled things way better than I would have. I would've been screaming and shrieking like there was no tomorrow.
