Help with chapter picnic!
I am the Sponsor Chair for my chapter, which means I match up big and little sisses, help plan bid day, order the new member bags/ gifts, do big sis reveal, and plan Family Picnic! Every year we do a family picnic (family being you, your big sis/ little sis, and all your attachments within the sorority, not your parents and biological family). This will be my first time planning it and the girl who planned it before me did an AWESOME job! I want to do as well as she did, but I am having trouble thinking of ideas. Could someone give me ideas or let me know about something similar you have done in the past? This would be MUCH appreciated, thanks guys!

Can you tell us more about what she did and what made it such a success?

She had a big picnic at a local park on a sunday morning/ afternoon, with bagels and juice and stuff. Each "family" made a t-shirt to represent their family and we presented them. We had a kickball game and did some other games and stuff. Then we had cake and a pinata! It was cute but I want to make it even more exciting this year!

Select a theme. Maybe this year it can be something like along the lines of Bid Day theme and you have t-shirts with the saying on it and "Big/Lil Reveal 06." Everyone loves a t-shirt! :)
Everything at your event can be based on the theme. For example if you do "J'adore XYZ" everything can be Chanel-themed, and you can maybe have a tea party. For Big/Lil reveal, maybe the big/lil have matching purses and inside the purse is the name of the Big/Lil. Or you can do an "Around the World" luncheon with each "family" responsible for a type of cuisine for a luncheon--- Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Greek, etc. Your T-shirts can feature a globe and maybe the saying "XYZ: The best sisterhood in the world." Or go with what works-- bagels in the park and some field games. Maybe Big/Lil reveal is determined by matching t-shirts. You can play Capture the Flag or other types of outdoor games. Or make it a beach theme or pool party. Hope this helps. Sometimes the best events are the ones that are the most casual. Maybe you can plan a sisterhood sleepover with silly games, movies, magazines and crafts where the whole chapter bonds with their new bigs/lils. |
Not to be nitpicky, but "J'adore _____" is a Dior thing. Such cute ideas!
