Question Qualifications for Local Status
I know of a sorority that only has a chapters in 2 states yet they put "International" in their title.
Is this correct? Misrepresentation? |
I would say yes.
|
To which one? That its okay for them to call themselves international when they only have chapters in 2 states?
|
Unless they have a chapter in another country, they are not "International". KD has tons of chapters, but none outside of the U.S. and therefore we are National.
Two states does not equal international. Two countries does. I question the education of whoever decided they should be "international". Lol |

I agree that at this point it is a misrepresentation. Perhaps, they are looking at expanding outside of the US and didn't want to prematurely turn away possible leads. Just a thought.

Maybe they are being forward thinking, lol. |

Well, send us the link! PM me. |
If they only have 2 chapters within the United States, it will be hard for them to expand outside of the U.S.
|
Yeah I'd not go with "international" right away...regional sounds more like it. I know there are a couple of sororities who have several chapters in the NY/PA area that are well established...not quite national, not quite local.
|
They actually have 11 chapters and colonies but are only in 2 states.
|
stretching it
Maybe they have members from other countries, and they are using the word as a descriptive title? It's kind of a stretch though, and I would still say misrepresentative.
|
Was this sorority founded in 1991? If so, and it's who I think it is, I believe they're talking about their membership.
