Former Co-Worker Contact?
Okay, so I quit my job a few weeks ago and started at a much better one. The problem is one of my co-workers, who was the Project Architect on a high-profile project I was working on. He was a major reason in why I left, but not the only one. Basically, he tried to keep me under his thumb--monitoring my arrival to and departure from the office, getting angry when I left work on time (as opposed to late), calling me on my cell phone when I'd go downstairs for a bathroom break--you name it, he did it. When I finally quit, I thought I'd be rid of him.
Not so fast! He sent me a voicemail this morning, basically saying that HE (not my actual former supervisor, not HR) wants an expired security badge from that project. I haven't seen that thing since the beginning of the year; I gave my current one back to the Project Manager (our supervisor) upon my resignation. I do not intend on calling him back, sending the badge back, or anything like that. However, is there anything I can do as far as HR or even a lawyer is concerned? I really feel like I need to cover my ass... |
Well, he sounds like your basic asshat. Maybe you could get by with writing a letter to HR stating that you had returned your current badge. You might check and see.

If that man was not your supervisor or a representative from HR then you do not owe that man anything. Contact HR and let them know (as they should already) that you are no longer an employee there and ask them if you have anything outstanding that you may have...but also let them know that according to your records, all office material have been returned upon your departure.
