dress for August wedding

Ok, so my husband is in the wedding of one of the guys who was his groomsman in our wedding in May. We are good friends with the couple, so we'll be around all weekend for the festivities. Unfortunately, they are OUT OF THEIR MINDS because the wedding is August 5th and the reception will be outside in late afternoon in MISSISSIPPI. In other words, the hottest/ most humid place on earth.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what i should wear? I want something that I can be *somewhat* (cause I know I'll be melting no matter what) cool in the entire day. But, I feel like since my husband is part of the bridal party, I need to have something kinda dressy(more than just a sundress). So, any thoughts(especially thoughts that have pictures attached) would be MUCH appreciated!

They are seriously insane. Lol.

Is the church air conditioned? It's even worse to be stuck in a hot, muggy church with no AC and absolutely no air flow (had one of those last year).

I would think most people would be wearing sundresses of some sort- because, really, what else dressy can you wear in Mississippi in August, outside, and not die of heat exhaustion? I would definitely go for something free flowing and floaty... nothing clingy or really form fitting. Ick. You have my condolences ;)

I love these dresses. None of them should show (ick) sweat stains TOO badly. Hope it helps!

I really like the last 3... first 2nd one more so. I don't know what that kind of weather would be like, but if it's anything like NY in August, I think those kinds of dresses are good choices.

I love the third dress.

I'd go with that first dress- then dress it up a bit more with a snazzy necklace and shoes. You could also always do a lace shawl/scarf- not anything heavy like a pashmina, if you need to cover your shoulders in the church.

My wedding was in an un-airconditioned, little one room old church on August 4th, but it was in Colorado. We were STILL HOT, even without the humidity. I'm sorry you'll have to deal with the heat AND the humidity when you attend your husband's friend's function!

Just be careful in summer's light dresses that you don't go with too much white. The last thing you want to do is upset the poor bride! :)

One of the people who read at our wedding wore an adorable sundress...it was white with a flower pattern at the bottom. She also wrapped her shoulders in a blue pashmina, but every time I see a pic or video of her in her white dress, I get a little irked...and I was quite possibly the world's most laid back bride!!!

I don't know what your budget is for this, but here's a nice Lilly that is a little dressier then a sundress:

Nice suggestions! Definitely select something sleeveless. Since you're married you won't be trying to catch the bouquet, so you could even go strapless. (The guest who caught my bouquet had a strapless dress that became topless. :o )

My wedding was on August 5 in Louisiana, but we had the good sense to have it in air conditioning. The guys sweltered in their tuxes anyway.

 Bet that made for an interesting wedding video.

Fortunately, we didn't have a video. But the photographer was plenty embarrassed. He kindly gave me the negative to give to her.
