Jewels: The Story of the Founding of Alpha Phi Alpha.

Thanks for sharing Countrygurl - "06-08"

As we prepare to celebrate in the largest convention in Alpha Phi Alpha history, I am blessed, pleased and honored to let you in on the largest project I have ever been fortunate enough to embark upon. I have been working on this project for over 2 years and finally am able to launch it.
Many of you know me as ADoP from www.SkeePhi.com or some may know me from when I was co-chair of the SkeePhi Committee in NY. Many of you know me as the writer of As the Sands Burn and some of you may know me from my performance days with Step Afrika. Many of you also know that I am a writer. My new book is launching on the first day of the Centennial Convention, it is a novel based on the founding of Alpha Phi Alpha.
My book is called Jewels: The Story of the Founding of Alpha Phi Alpha.
This book is unlike anything you have ever read as it pertains to our fraternity. The history book that we have is fantastic for giving us the actual dates, times, places and people in our history. My book gives you the dialogue, the arguments, the laughter, the planning, and the founding.
The book begins with a young Henry Callis in high school. In the book, all the founders meet each other. They establish the literary society under C.C. Poindexter. They plan everything, they argue, they laugh and joke. Robert Harold Ogle even falls in love and gets married in March 1906. You will NEVER see the Jewels the same if you check out my book.
The book concludes with a letter from each Jewel to the frat now at this our 100 year mark!
My website, www.Jewels1906.com is up and you can purchase the book now. I am attempting to get 10,000 books printed for the convention. I have a booth set up where I will be selling. I hope to sell out!
Now I need your help. If you could, would you please log on and support me by purchasing an advanced copy of the book? The book is only $15. You can pay by credit card, pay pal, or check/money order. The money that I receive from pre-orders will assist me in getting the books printed. You can pick up your book at my table at the convention. Just bring photo id. Or you can have it shipped to you. Just get the info from the website.
Please forward this and the website link to any Alphas, AKAs or whomever you think may be blessed with a copy of our history. Thank you all for your support!!

I finally was able to order a copy off of pay pal I love to support African American Authors, I almost had an idea of a similar storyline myself in regards to historical fiction.

CountryGurl 08-25-2006 07:57 PM

I got my copy of the book yesterday when I got home and I finished it this morning around 1 am (if I didn't have to stop and eat, answer the phone, pay attention to folks it would have been a lot sooner:D ...lol)

I haven't received my copy and it is going on 48 days since I placed the order

If you purchased it through PayPal then you will have to mail them an additional $2.00 because PayPal does not include the S&H charge.

Lady of Pearl 09-08-2006 09:13 PM

 Why were we not informed of this when we placed our orders? paypal suggested that we get in touch with the author and when I did there was no valid email address.

Sophist08edLady 09-09-2006 08:38 PM

I found an email address for the author and emailed....but got no response.

Lady of Pearl 09-10-2006 08:56 PM

:( speechless at this whole scenario!

Sophist08edLady 09-11-2006 10:08 AM

I've just written it off as a $15.00 donation. It's really a shame because I wanted to give it as a gift.

Lady of Pearl 09-11-2006 07:41 PM

I for one only make donations to my sorority and church. I do not donate to something I have paid for and have yet to receive!
