Toasts / Congratulatory Cheers?

I went to a wedding last night where a guy I know (an Alpha Sigma Phi) got married, and his brothers had a couple "cheers" or "toasts" for him- just like our cheers, with clapping and all of that, and instead of being like "yay for alpha sig" it was like specifically a congratulations to that brother. I was wondering if we had anything like that - that congratulates a sister at a wedding or something like that. I asked my chapter advisor, but as usual, she was too busy thinking about herself and wishing she could be more like her beloved k to the k to the b. (just kidding ;)

I think the sweetheart song is the closest thing we have for events like weddings. I know my chapter knows the song well because it seemed like we had candlepasses nearly every week my senior year, but I know some chapters don't even know it exists.

This is SO true! I was at a alumna event with new alums and we were talking about the Sweetheart Song & ceremonies....they had never heard of either one...

Guess the traditions are changing. ;)

Not that I know of - I will ask some of the girls in the chapter if they know of any. I have one girl that is a-freaking-mazing. She is super crafty, knows anything & everything about Alpha Chi, and spends her free time hanging out with her roommate & the two members across the hall at the apartments just making up AXO songs. Sadly, they are all alumnae now :(

She is probably going to get engaged soon herself - I'm just waiting for it to happen.

And a big WELCOME to you, ACHIOkkb - that is a cute SN, are you a member of Kappa Chapter or something?

Yes, there is actually an "Alpha Chi Omega" toast!! You can find it on the national website under "Member Services"--->"Collegiate"--->"Resources"--->Lyrics. It is actually a combination of "Toast" followed by "Alpha Chi".

We just learned it last recruitment to use for Pref Night and it's really beautiful. It's supposed to be said when an AChiO weds.

And wow, I am so surprised to hear that there are chapters that haven't heard of Sweetheart songs, ceremonies and Candlepassing.

KKB knows the Toast - Lord knows we sing it enough ;) LOL! What she is talking about is a "fraternity" type toast with loud cheering & clapping.

I haven't found anything fun like that - maybe at Summer CAmp, the CA's can come up with something fun :p

Forum crash... :)

Two years ago, I attended a wedding where the bride was an AXO. (The groom, who is my friend, never joined a fraternity.) There were many AXOs in attendance, including a number of the bridesmaids.

At the reception, the AXOs sang the sweetheart song for the newly married couple. It was very pretty. :)

Sadly, they are now divorced.
