House Corp and/or Alum Association?
If the chapter alum have a housing corporation do they also have an alum association? My chapter has a chapter alum association. which all the alumnae belong and it helps keep the chapter alum in touch with each other and helps plan things like the homecoming cookout. Now there is some desire to get a chapter house.
Does the alum association become the housing corp? Or do organizations have both a housing corp and an alumna association? Having both seems like a lot of effort, and we may not have enough alum who would volunteer to make both successful. Just a little confused, so I though I would ask the GC alum what their chapter alum do! |

At the same time, HCB's may exist without an alumnae chapter. |
Agree with what's been said. Also, depending on how the bylaws of the house corporation are written, members of the corporation board do not need to be members of the GLO.

LXA has three distinct organizations which may be true in most instances for most GLOs.
1. Alum Advisory Board to work with the Chapter. Usually those who are living close to the chapter. While I am not on the Official A B, I mentor one of the Offices who is Alum Chair. 2. House Corporation when need if there is a House and to deal with problems such as up keep and repairs.. 3. Alum. Association to work with Alums in keeping them updated, work to gain funds whereby they can be used to aid the Chapter in many ways such as scholorships, send extra Actives to Regional and General Assembly meetings. Of course depending on amount of funds, maybe a donation for furniture and helping to upgrade the house. We also have two V Ps. One for the Metro K C Area where many Alums are and one for a Four State corner area. It is important to have someone in charge of collecting emails and electonically sendin out a news letter to all members, Active and Alum alike for all updates and notices. I have been doing these for the last 10 years so inherited it again. It is strongly suggested that no member will be on more than one where feasible. At one time, there was an Alum group of @ 20 who did it all. But times for the betterment change. Burn out can be a huge problem at times so it is a good idea to break it up for responibilty. |
