New NPC Group?
When was the last time a new group was admitted to the NPC or tried to be admitted? Was it when the AES merged with the NPC? What is the procedure/requirements for a group to be admitted to the NPC? Does anyone know the most recent group that applied (whether unsuccesful or not) for NPC membership?

Just based on the NPC website the last groups admitted were in the 50's. From what I was told the process is very lengthy and requires that you have multiple chapters that have been established for multiple years. To get precise information, I would recommend contacting NPC.

The last group to join the NPC was Alpha Epsilon Phi in 1954. To become a member of the NPC, you need to have at 15 or more chapters, and your youngest chapter has to be at least 2 years old.

Xidelt does your local have anything to do with the local Xi Delta that was once at Flordia International University but is now the Theta Xi Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta?
|
No, we don't have any connection to any other group. I didn't even know that there was another Xi Delta! My sorority was founded in 1991 at UGA.:)

Those are the requirements, but you would be crazy to enter NPC with those kind of numbers. |

Pretty much. My local wanted to try to join the NPC but we realized that it just wasn't possible. You can't go national until you have at least 15 chapters, but a lot of schools won't let you start up a chapter there unless you already have a national charter. It's a catch-22.

Xidelt - You may want to search this topic, since it has been discussed several times in the past. :D
The basic NPC membership requirements: NPC Associate Membership -- the sorority must have 12 chapters and an established national character for 9 years. National character is like a National Council/Board that oversees the chapters. NPC Active Membership -- the sorority must be NPC associate member for 4 years and have a minimum of 14 chapters, with the 14th chapter being at least 2 years old. As to any groups that have applied in the last 50 years - probably none. There have been at least 3 groups that looked into the NPC but did not apply, including Ceres, Phi Sigma Rho, and a multi-cultural sorority. Kappa Beta Gamma may also have a goal of joining once again in the future. My sorority, Phi Sigma Rho, became eligible in 2002 with the installation of our 12th chapter, but we decided against joining the NPC. The NPC expansion agreement would severly limit our growth to only universities that have been deemed "open" to expansion by the campus Panhellenic. I think we made the right decision as we now have 20 chapters! ;) Quote:

I thought Phi Sigma Rho wasn't eligible to join the NPC because you limit your only to women with engineering majors?

I'm sure it's on here somewhere...but does anyone know off hand which NPC has the least amount of chapters and how many that is?? I would doubt that anyone would want to join NPC unless they could at least match whoever and whatever # that is. |

Based on the NPC membership requirements, Phi Sigma Rho has been eligible to apply since 2002. There are no restrictions on having a particular interest/focus or GPA/major. Therefore, interest-based or niche market sororities could apply to the NPC if otherwise eligible.
If you are interested in the all the NPC membership requirements and application procedures, I can see if I still have them. I just posted the basic ones, there are others like agreeing to the Unanimous Agreements, paying NPC dues, etc. Quote:

I thought that because of the way that NPC recruitment and stuff worked, you could not discriminate based on majors, so if you participated in recruitment you'd have to take everyone, not just engineering majors. Can any NPC ladies who this better that I do confirm/clarify?
