Do you eat from the kids' menu sometimes?
Guys, there is a 260 post DEBATE about this subject on another forum!  :o
So, you go out to a restaurant and you're broke, not that hungry, or do not like what is on the adult menu...would you order from the kids menu? Why or why not? |
I have... smaller portions! Less carbs for me to count for insulin dosages. Especially fries...
But that's mostly just for fast food places. |
I do often. It's cheaper, the portions are more reasonable, and there's often a cool toy. :D
|
Nope.
Only exception is the funny face at iHop, though :) |
I get Happy Meals cuz they're smaller portions and I like the toys. Other than that, nope. Don't most restaurants have a policy that you have to be 12 or under to order off the kids' menu? I've seen that in most places that have a kids menu.

I'm with you Daisy! Happy Meal toys = love. At the movies I'd really like to order the kids pack of a small popcorn, soda and candy but usually I get zilch. The Lowe's @ Lincoln Center is pretty obnoxious about this too "well you can go ask my manager..." A server at a sit down family friendly place once brought me a cup with a cover & straw when I ordered from the kids menu... |

I usually only get kids meals when they give away squirrels:)

So, obviously I do order from the kids' menu every now and then. The only way I would hesitate if I was eating with bosses or co-workers. I wouldn't want to look unprofessional or kiddy. When I did my internships, I never ordered from the kids' menu. But, if I'm with family or friends I couldn't care less. |
Nope, it wouldn't be enough food for me. Even when I was a kid I wasn't eating off the kid's menu.

I haven't ordered off a children's menu since I was, oh, 8 or so.
My main problem with children's menus is that they often consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and similar drivel - regardless of the restaurant's stated cuisine. A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I were in town looking for a place to eat lunch. We found an Indian restaurant and started reading the menu. Chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, saag paneer, biryani, samosas, dhal, naan, etc. - all kinds of good things. Then my eye fell on the children's menu. All children's meals are served with french fries. You can get chicken nuggets, mozzarella sticks, fish sticks, or just the fries. Uh, what's the point of going to an Indian restaurant just to get fish sticks and fries?? Usually, if I'm not all that hungry, I'll order an appetizer, soup, or salad, or I'll order a main course, eat what I want, and take the rest home. |
I often do because the portions are smaller. Some of the regular entrees have portions that are enough for like 4 people
|
Only at fast food places. In any case, a Happy Meal can be ordered as an adult meal. You just don't get a toy.
