White House Intern

Hey someone I know says she worked at the White House and had to take a weaponry training class. It bothers me a bit because she said she could and would kill but to each their own.

Is it true that you take weapons training if you work at the white house? Anyone know?

And how difficult is it to get these jobs? I bet there's a lot of competition out there for them.

Does your sister-in law work Admin?
I'm just wondering, because Special Agents have to go to the academy, where i assume they take classes like the one mentioned in the previous post.

I didn't think Rudey was asking about something similar to a special agent, but I could be wrong.

Well, considering the thread is about interns....I don't know of any interns who are special agents...do you??;)

I don't know about the White House specifically but my sister-in-law works for the FBI and she hasn't had to do any such thing.

What sort of job descriptions does she have? That might be a good indicator of whether or not she's bs'ing you.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about Monica.

Yeah I know. It's weird. I mean she isn't in the secret service or anything at all.

I'm wondering now if she's a big fat liar. :(

My Chi O roommate in college interned with both the US Marshalls and the Secret Service. She never had weapons training for either. I would assume if an intern in those groups isn't getting it, a White House intern isn't getting it either.

I've only known one person who got a White House internship, and she did not have to take weapons training.

Greekopedia 06-13-2006 10:59 AM

why would an intern needs weapons training? I thought you had to be certified as an officer or something to do that... especially in the white house of all places?

A Kappa Phi sister of mine interned for Senator Kerry, and many of her roomies were White House interns. She says the weapons training thing is false.

I know a good number of people who have worked at the White House as interns and staffers. None of them had to take weapons training (that I've been aware of).

I know someone who completed the White House Intern program this past year. He never had to take weapons training (and lord help him if he did!! LOL).

I have friends working for many different members of the House and Senate and all of them say this is false.

I now consider this matter closed. It's definitely a lie because nobody else has heard of it and it fits in with this person's awful behavior.

But just to be on the safe side, I'll post her exact words so people can tell me I'm not jumping overboard here. :)

Bump, since this is relevant in the "Tree falls near White House" thread.
