Lily of the Valley randomness
A friend and I were walking yesterday through a courtyard and she said, "That's my flower, you know, the flower of the month I was born in." I didn't pay any attention and just sort of nodded. A few minutes later she mentioned it was Lily of the Valley. After realizing what flower, I felt bad for not having paid any attention the first time.

I just bought a lily of the valley plant from a greenhouse. They are hard to find around here!
Oh yeah, one of my favorite fabric softeners is a Canadian brand called Fleecy. They have a Lily of the Valley scent. When I am at my inlaws, I stock up to bring a bunch back to Bellingham. It smells great! |
For Volunteer Appreciation Week my staff partner sent me a beautiful tin canister with some bulbs. I had no idea what kind of bulbs they were, but I watered them, but the canister in my office window on a Friday and went home for the weekend. When I came back on Monday I had beautiful Lily of the Valley in my window. I was so excited. First, I couldn't believe they grew so quickly, but also, they just don't grow here b/c it is too hot. YAY!

I was born in the month of MAY! Lily-of-the-Valley I was in girl scouts during the early-mid 70's and my troop flower was...LILY-OF-THE-VALLEY! And I became an Alpha Phi! Hi! I saw this in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Store and I knew that there must be a sorority with the lily as a flower. Would you believe I did a Google search on sorority lily and came up with y'all on Wilkipedia (or however it's spelled). |
I love Dior's classic perfume, Diorissimo, because the top note is our flower, lily-of-the-valley. I love to wear it to sisterhood events, meetings, etc.
Also, my mum owns a natural products company, and for rush this year, she was nice enough to donate lily-of-the-valley scented tealights to my chapter, which we arranged into the letters and kept burning on one of the food tables. A lot of rushees commented on the nice smell in the room, and we used it as an opportunity to tell them about one of our symbols! |
That was a really creative way of incorporating one of the symbols! Great job!
