make-your-own-stepping-stones kits
Has anybody else done this? We're having the best time with that today--we're going to put them around one of our gardens! They're inexpensive; we got ours at Michael's.
We all put our handprints in our individual stones with our name at the top. Mine also has crosses, a few pastel stars, my 3 universities, Pi Phi, a Texas impression, and Psalms 127:3-5. I tried to use a carnation stamp on it but the grooves weren't big enough to make a decent carnation. Of course, we've had to hide our sons' stones from each other so they won't put insults into them before they dry. |
Our alumnae club did this for a craft night once, several years ago, but we didn't use those kits. To make it even cheaper and easier, you can line a pizza box with a garbage bag and use Quik Crete that you mix yourself. If you add paint into it, you can color it and you can put whatever you want on or in it. I used a bunch of sea shells that I'd bought at Myrtle Beach one year (the ones that come in a big clam shell). I keep telling myself I need to make some now for my yard, with the kids.
