Summer skin care and makeup thread
I'm looking for suggestions for a light moisturizer with an SPF in it and also a light foundation with SPF in it. Currently i'm using Estee Lauder Individualist foundation, which I really like, but there's no SPF, and also a light moisturizer that comes in a blue bottle from Estee Lauder whose name is escaping me.
So any suggestions are welcome! |
Ditto on Bourjois Happy Light!!! I live in Texas and I love it-- you don't feel like you are wearing makeup and it doesn't get greasy or melt on your face! I highly recommend using a foundation brush instead of a sponge-- one bottle will last you six months if you apply with a brush!
(I also love Bourjos's liquid eyeliner! The entire line of products is great-- you can get it at Sephora) |
Bare Minerals! The powder foundation is perfect for these humid Kentucky summers. They smooth everything out, keep you from getting shiny, AND you can't tell you're wearing makeup at all.

I also use a moisturizer from Ulta (local beauty supply store) that has SPF 15 and is made for sensitive skin. (Sunscreen makes me breakout like mad.) |
For the moisturizer, I use Oil of Olay. It isn't too expensive, and it gets the job done. They have it for various skin types w or w/o SPF.

Kill two birds with one stone and try Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.
It can be used in place of foundation and it has an SPF of 20. Sheer to medium coverage. Also, it's available in a really wide range of shades so it's easy to get a good match. I'm pretty sure they carry Laura Mercier at Sephora; and maybe Kaufmann's. |
Sephora doesn't carry Laura Mercier, but most department stores do. Also, if you have a store similar to Beauty & Main, they should.
Kind of off topic, but has anyone used the Stila Smudge Pots? |
The New England Journal of Medicine recommends Cream de Shultzz. It is also good for sore throats.

I use Bare Minerals, and I do like it, but I still end up somewhat shiny by the end of the day. I blame that more on my crappy skin than the makeup. |
Along the Bare Minerals lines, has anyone tried the Neutrogena or L'Oreal versions of it? I can't bring myself to spend the $$$ for Bare Minerals.
Also, I have super oily skin and I can't seem to find a product to stop it! I'm open to suggestions (I'm looking into the Clinque 3 step line, is it any good?) |

I might have to try out the Bourjois stuff... Tinted moisturizer would probably be perfect for me for the summer. I know Ulta carries them, and I have to go to a store right next door to Ulta on Saturday to pick up something. *insert evil laugh here* I get to drag the bf into a makeup store, lol.
My mom bought the Bare Minerals stuff... I honestly don't see the difference on her. I kind of think it's overhyped. |

You might want to at least try the toner. Though be careful, they can be strong. But if you have super oily skin you can probably take it. |
Aw, I love Clinique's 3-step line. But I have extremely dry and sensitive skin, so I'm not sure how it would do on oily skin.
|
My aunt bought me Proactive last time I was pregnant, because my face broke out like crazy. I loved it, and it's light & refreshing, so it would be good for summer.
