My Happy Ending

I'm home after my freshman year at my State U so I thought I would tell you my rush story as it finally has a happy ending.

I didn't know much about sororities before I went to State U but signed up for rush to find more about them & see if they were the right thing for me. A girl I knew at State U told me that many of the openings were taken even before rush began & hundreds of girls would try for those that remained.

Rush was as competative as I had been warned. So many girls were heavily cut & taking it very hard. I felt sorry for them, especially as I was sailing through rush, maxing out on the number of invitations to each round of parties and only cut by one of my favorites. All the girls I met were so nice & so friendly that as rush continued my atitude changed form what I would just look into to what I really wanted. After the pref parties I was very excited. I liked the girls so much in the sororities whose parties I had just attended and they all acted as if they felt the same way about me. Then I got the call that I did not get a bid. No explaination, not even an "I'm sorry", just no bid.

I was very angry. I had been warned but wouldn't listen. Worse, I had turned something I would just check out into what I wanted so much. I knew I had to suck it up & move on, but the experience left a sour taste in my mouth & I could never feel the same way about State U again.

So whats my happy ending? The really good colleges accept very few transfer students but one I almost applied to before I decided to go to State U has accepted me for this fall. No, I won't try to join a sorority there because the school doesn't have them & I wouldn't go there if it did. So when I pack up my stuff & head back to college, it won't be to state U & that's my happy ending.

Well, if you're happy, we are too. :)
