Bookcrossing, The coolest thing. Ever.
Seriously, I think this is the neatest thing I've ever come across. I was reading one of my other boards, and someone posted about a book they came across in a washroom. Inside it was a tag saying that the book wasn't lost, and to take it with them and report its finding on http://www.bookcrossing.com/home. Its pretty cool, you can track where the book has been around the world! I'm going to release one of my books that I don't want to take home tomorrow...I suggest the rest of you do the same! We've all got books/magazines that are just taking up space and collecting dust, so create an account, put a tag in there, and set those puppies free!
You can also see where people have released them in your area, and track 'em down if you're so inclined. |
This is really a cute idea. This makes me want to go look for the books in my area now, lol.

I may have to leave some around when I go travelling this summer. What a fun idea.

Oh this is awesome. I have so many books that I've read and now are just collecting dust (since I don't really like re-reading books). They're all in great condition, and it would seem a shame to get just toss them out. It'll be great knowing that other people will be able to get a chance to enjoy these books.

I tried this with a Book about N C State, the Chapter of LXA.
I sent it to Brothers asking that it be signed by them and their Chapter letters. It went well until A Brother did not send it on or back and He has disapeared! Dont do this with a book that is important to You! |
My sister (a librarian) and I have been doing this for years. She lives in a much more active Book Crossing area than I do, but I have come across books when I was traveling in Australia.
