Gpa

I know what most of the recommended GPA's are for incoming freshmen, but what are your chapter's personal requirements.

3.0? 3.5? 4.0?

Let me know what your views are.

For all of the sororities at my school, I believe the minimum GPA is a 2.7 (set by Panhel). Unofficially, however, a PNM will have the best shot with a 3.3+ at the more selective chapters.

Minimum GPA at Baylor is 2.5 (by the school) but 2.75 for most chapters.

Um, i think you'll be hard pressed to find a sorority with a 4.0 requirement. ;)

My school recommends a 3.10 coming out of high school.

To go through recruitment, I believe OC requires a 2.5 from Fall Quarter (we have delayed recruitment, and we don't look at a PNM's HS grades). That being said, chapters do not have access to a PNM's grade info, it is used only for the purpose of confirming her eligibility for recruitment. I can see pluses and minuses to access to that info, but that's another thread for another day.

To join a GLO (at my school) you must have at least a 2.5; however, my chapter requires rushees to have a 3.0 the semester they rush, but once you're a member the requirement drops to 2.5. I rushed this past Spring, so I haven't been involved in recruitment... but my sisters say the 3.0 requirement makes it easier to choose girls.

The national requirement to join AEPhi is 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

My chapter had 3 different requirements, depending on what semester you joined.

- First-semester freshmen had to have an overall high school GPA equivalent to at least a B average.
- Second-semester freshmen and first-semester sophomores had to have passed at least 3 courses the previous semester. Freshman year was pass/no record, meaning that you got a "pass" if you got a C or above, and if you got a D or F there was no record you'd taken the course.
- Second-semester sophomores and up had to have an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 5.0 scale. Same for transfers.

This was around ten years ago, though...

Any Kent people feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the minimum GPA to participate has been 2.5.

Individual chapter GPAs ranged from 2.5-3.0 (for incoming freshmen).

Last semester, the chapters with minimum GPAs raised theirs to 2.75/2.8, but I'm not sure if Panhellenic will be raising the minimum GPA to reflect that. It wouldn't make sense to let someone with a 2.5 rush knowing that they would be cut.

Our national requirement is a 2.5 to join. Individual chapters can set their GPAs higher if they choose. My chapter's GPA is a 2.8.

At ADPi Bama this year we are requiring a 3.2 for incoming Freshmen and for upperclassmen at or above Panhellenic average from the previous semester. Haven't gotten that figure yet for Spring 06, but Fall 05 was above a 3.1. (Have to go dig for the exact number)

Florida State requires a 2.0 to apply. I can tell you from experience that most houses will cut immediately if below a 2.5 and some of the most competitive houses will not take below a 3.0.

[Insert snarky remark about needing a high enough GPA to spell "recommended"]

My chapter required a 2.5 to pledge, and a 2.0 to stay active and hold office.
